I would call 14 months more than just temporarily... I don't even consider him a handful for defenders anymore... In fact he's become very easy to take care of for centre halves. Anyone who thinks he's going to come back in and suddenly start tearing it up needs to get real.... We have 3 poor strikers and one who hasn't been seen since god knows when. We've had 3 transfer windows to put it right and inexplicably failed in all 3.
Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!! |

I was one of the very few who backed Bentenke last season as although his goal scoring was almost non-existent he was involved in a large number of goals either directly or in winning balls in the initial build up. This season after a promising start at Fulham he looked very poor and even I had given up on him. However, for all the running Ayew does, he just doesn't seem to suit the lone striker role. Instead he looks like he would be good backup for Wilf or Andros.

I think people are forgetting just how spineless, lazy, and uninterested Benteke has been - not only not scoring goals, but not bothering to get stuck in with defenders and compete for the ball or win headers. Nowhere near as bad as Sorloth, but still an utter liability. If we can get Benteke to get stuck in, then he's our best option - if not, it's like playing with 10 men, and we should pick Ayew since he at least presses defenders. (How the f*** did we get here???)
