I find it illuminating that no-one at all has commented on this! Has no-one else watched it? It is quite possibly the most important documentary to be made this year, and perhaps for many years. It shows how much democracy itself was under threat, and with Trump threatening to run in 2024, how it could easily be again. The GOP that was a respectable party on the centre right are now running scared of upsetting the Trump base and a disgrace to their proud history. They're between a rock and a hard place as Trump is still popular so politicians won't hesitate to accept his backing. Whether that resulted in him running, or supporting someone else who knows, he'll factor in, in some capacity. As he's a narcissist my hunch would be that he'll run again rather than take a backseat, and will stand a decent chance of winning. Edited by BlueJay (23 Oct 2021 3.53am)

It's clear that Trump intends to run in 2024. He has over 80 percent approval rating within the Republican party he's just started his own social media platform 'Truth social', which....if it takes off.....will ensure that a few CEOs in Silicon Valley don't get to shape the narrative to the exclusion of alternative voices.....because elections are decided by independent voters, not prior partisans. Personally I don't want Trump to run....his second term was a big disappointment and I just don't think presidents should be that old. I also don't think the republicans have a realistic chance of winning elections due to demographic shifts and voting rules. Perhaps 2024 will wake up many more in the Republican party over just what the reality is.

Looking forward to the USA defending Taiwan from China after their humiliation in Afghanistan. The taliban looking for financial help, no doubt the tories will oblige. Executions are expensive you can't get the staff.

I am no more "fond" of anyone because they are a Muslim than if they aren't. I judge people on what they do, not where they come from or what their background is. Try doing the same. It might open your eyes a little.

Whilst I agree that independents have traditionally held the key I suspect there will be a number of Republicans who will not be able to stomach another Trump fiasco. As you can be pretty sure there won't be too many Democrats going the other way, it doesn't look too promising. Thankfully. He tried a version of his own social media platform earlier this year. It collapsed within a month. This is likely to challenge Gab and Parler for the right-wing user. It won't get anything like the reach of Facebook or Twitter. Some others will follow, just to keep an eye on things. I will. The name, though, is stupid. No-one except the already indoctrinated believe Trump speaks the truth. Independents will be put off by it.

Independents will be put off by it. Trump launching Truth Social is like Harold Shipman heading Help the Aged. Still, Based on the support he has, if Trump is deadset on become the GOP candidate it's difficult to look past him. It then comes down to how much support he has lost, as it's hard to see how he can match his previous performance. It would likely be Trump vs Harris really, as I can't imagine that Biden will be able to serve a further four years (he'll possibly struggle to get to the end of this term!). The state of the economy in 2024 will probably be key to who gets in. If everything has gone to sh!t due to the pandemic that will count against Dems. If there the start of a recovery phase, possibly the opposite.
