Would posters here be willing to throw the DUP under the bus to gel a deal? Serious question. Right now I would say that we are being softened up for a delay in Brexit unless the EU makes a concession. I am annoyed that Mrs May is now saying "its my deal or no Brexit" she seems to have forgotten that by act of parliament we leave at the end of March. I think the mood of the public is just get on with it and I agree. They're plenty of other issues that need to be addressed this has to be put to bed. As for the DUP I don't think it's a valid question. Apart from the Tories the other parties have already indicated that they will vote against the deal. Unless the PM has the support of the DUP it will will never pass. A general election solves nothing either unless the Tories deselected all Remain candidates which isn't going to happen. The vast majority of MPs in the house are Remain which is out of step with the public. It only makes sense if Labour becomes a Remain party putting clear water between them and the Tories. However if that happened there is no guarantee that Corbyn would get enough votes. My hope is that we leave at the end of March. Mrs May steps down in the summer and we get a new Tory leader by the autumn. We then have a general election early next year when Brexit is on the back burner and we are back to more traditional politics.

Some 87% of people who were too young to cast a ballot in the 2016 Brexit referendum but have since reached voting age would “definitely” take part if a second public vote were called, according to a new poll. And of the estimated 2 million new young voters, 74% would back remain. Out with the old, in with the new. Can't happen too quickly.

When I was 18 (1979) we had a GE I was still at school and voted for the old Liberal Party. At the next GE 4 years later I was in work paying taxes and voted Tory and have done ever since. My views did a 180 over 2-3 years. I wonder how many of those young people who were just old enough to vote Remain in 2016 would still vote that way today? There is an assumption that all those young people plus the young people who are now old enough to vote would all vote the same way. Maybe, maybe not.

Conversely, 69% of those in nappies last time would now protest against remain, and of that 69%, 83% would definitely demand a delay in enacting any second referendum until they were old enough to vote, by that time, 93% of the 74% you previously spoke of would want a third referendum because 77% of them had changed their minds. This is based on 23% of the available polls which agree with what I want and is, I can assure you, 100% bollocks. A bit like any arguements based on "what ifs".

LOL Why don't we just cull anyone over the age of 70 solves the EU issue, social housing (cos one old git has a 3 bed council house he wont give up) and the cost of caring for the old which the taxpayer will no longer have to bear. Alternately as the young don't vote we could have an old gits party in power their policies could be: 1. Free TV licence and the BBC to be renamed The good old days.

It looks like Mrs May is listening to the siren voices telling her to ask for an extension to the Brexit deadline, a completely pointless exercise. The EU is not in any mood to compromise and so we are at deadlock. The latest EU offer was a border dividing the Irish sea something that was rejected by the UK government over a year ago and proof they are not serious. What is the point of asking for an extension and all the difficulties that will bring if the EU will not budge. It's time for Mrs May to either tell the EU we are leaving without a deal or if she cannot bring herself to do this she should resign. I suspect that by the end of this week the can will have been kicked down the road yet again. At times like this I think of Cromwell's comments to a corrupt parliament which seem very apt at this time whether you are a Remainer or a Leaver.
Is there a single virtue now remaining amongst you? Is there one vice you do not possess? Ye have no more religion than my horse; gold is your God; which of you have not barter'd your conscience for bribes? Is there a man amongst you that has the least care for the good of the Commonwealth? Ye sordid prostitutes have you not defil'd this sacred place, and turn'd the Lord's temple into a den of thieves, by your immoral principles and wicked practices? Ye are grown intolerably odious to the whole nation; you were deputed here by the people to get grievances redress'd, are yourselves gone! So! Take away that shining bauble there, and lock up the doors.

Of course, he didn't actually say the above, Richard Harris did However the point is understood And of course we know what happened next, the power vacuum made Oliver what our Winston called a 'Military Dictator'.
