Quite why he'd then vote for someone else who doesn't support the idea, or even in fact the complete opposite shows how 2 years of 'Corbyn is unelectable' (without basis in fact - or if any half truths) from the media and sections of the PLP has affected his faculties.

In fact I'd wager that elgrande isn't alone in thinking that the Labour manifesto is rather good but have been duped against voting for them.

Where do you get off gusset trying to put words or even thoughts in my head.
I have said that "in principle" some of the policies are sensible.
How ever who or what I think have f*** all to do with you.

I make my own mind up about voting with out being led by either side.

So give it a rest.

And what's more I certainly won't be bullied by the over represented "left" on this forum.

In the same way that may wants to put a cap on electricity.
Put a bill to parliament, vote on it. If passed it becomes part of statute.

Not rocket science.

But how can you make people who own the rented property take less than they are asking....none workable
.what happens if the landlord uses that rent to pay his mortgage..and compo comes along and says sorry you can't charge the.
So Mr landlord says f*** it,I will sell it..imagine that 1000s of times...That's gonna help the housing crisis not.

Rocket scientist.

I don't think that rents will be capped below mortgage costs. That would be unworkable.

Fact is. As taxpayers we are lining a lot of people's pockets through housing benefits covering extortionate rents.

Notwithstanding this, just because you might think it's unworkable doesn't mean we should shrug shoulders and let it carry on. At least Corbyn said Labour will do something about it, let's wait and see the detail before dissing the idea.

What is needed to finance it. Other than administration and enforcement.

If loads of houses go on the market, great. Will bring down prices making them more affordable. Know anyone trying to get on the nest egg (sorry housing) ladder? They'd welcome it I'm sure. Add to this local authorities purchasing properties when the market is low (using funds from the type of QE Cambridge has mentioned , you'd be able to build up social housing stock.

I'm a swing voter if anybody can answer the question I had earlier or, if they can't, explain to me how the only thing that matters isn't the vast government debt and our trade whopping deficits?

People get really involved in the `operational' side of politics: should we privatize the NHS, should we ban Johnny Islam from our shores etc. etc. etc.

But I honestly don't get it, and it impedes my passion for the rest of politics. Why doesn't any debate have to be about our deficits at the start? If somebody can explain to me (and I'm being absolutely sincere here) why they're not by a country mile the most important detail, I will be genuinely grateful.

Yes, yes, I appreciate this shows me up to be a thicko.

The housing crisis and high rents and high house prices is caused by a number of things. Mass immigration has obviously not helped. Housing Benefit has led to very high rents - a bonanza for landlords. The great difficulties in getting planning permission to build new houses. The Bank of England in cohorts with the Government setting artificially low interest rates. The dearth of council and co-ownership housing. Left alone, the construction industry and the market place would redress things.
