The taliban have killed four protesters so far. Not at all surprised tbh. The Taliban were left tens of billions of high level military equipment. Resistance will only come if someone gets their billion dollar credit card out.....and that hasn't exactly been money well spent has it. Spending billions to fight over who rules th4e land of the mountain goat. Edited by Stirlingsays (10 Sep 2021 7.19pm)

So the monumental incompetence continues. The drone, so called 'over the horizon' intelligence strike, they crowed about as killing IS as they ran out of Afghanistan ends up as a ten person civilian murder with mostly children as victims. So lets get this right, they have god knows how many Americans trapped in Afghanistan and for revenge points for the gate bombing they make the situation much worse. What about all the innocents who will have to suffer for the sheer incompetence of these people? Apparently Biden says the buck stops with him....he usually says it just before he blames Trump and just about anything else for his administration's failures. Still, no mean tweets I suppose. Edited by Stirlingsays (18 Sep 2021 12.01am) Awful Having watched a few 9/11 related docs recently - bush set this whole machine in motion by effectively passing a motion through Congress that allowed the US to go after anyone or any country deemed to be harbouring terrorists - in other words as it turned out (once the technology was there) free reign on drone strikes, anywhere, anytime. 20,000 people have died as a result of that policy, for balance, accelerated and embraced by Obama. Clearly not all of those 20,000 were terrorists. That particular motion needs to be repealed. And fast.
Did you know? 98.0000001% of people are morons. |

Clearly not all of those 20,000 were terrorists. That particular motion needs to be repealed. And fast. It's important to remember 911 and the need to reassert and fight the growing terrorist network pitted against the west. So allowing the military the greater means to respond...I can understand it. The flaw comes via extending out the remit to include more risky attacks with the hope of reaching targets for political reasons and capital. I'd agree though that any new law should have had definite 'risks' written into it....pressing the fire button and hoping is counter productive. The decision here to attack was extremely high risk. Seemingly done to relieve political pressure without any apparent concern both for the actual context of the attack nor consequences for failure. Clearly the policy has been taken significantly too far. It's unforgiveable both for the innocents murdered and awful for now what we now inevitably have to endure....America at least doesn't have relatively large concentrations of Islamic populations via unwise immigration policies.

'Entire Families Wiped Out': U.S. Airstrikes Killed Many Civilians In Syria - [Link] It's more a surprise when there is a pause in this stuff happening then when there isn't. Yes, unfortunately the reaction to 9/11 both at home (US) and abroad, just brought and brings more misery, and eroded freedoms, using the pretense of being 'patriotic'. The patriot act is anything but.

The patriot act is anything but. While I think the US and indeed the west were completely justified and compelled to go after IS and indeed not stop until Bin Laden was dead I think any criticisms after that are hard to criticise. Nation building should never have been part of that. Yes, the Taliban were part of what had to be punished, however essentially Afghanistan and Iraq were on the 'doable' list....especially Iraq. When you look at where radical Islam exists it's in pakistan and Saudi. Pressure on Saudi has arguably been effective as IS are no friends of the house of Saud. With pakistan however, they are famously duplicitous and two faced as their intelligence agencies are effectively their own government and work with terror groups as an offshoot of the India/Kashmir conflict....In Afghanistan they were responsible for many an allied death. The reason Iraq got it and they didn't was much more to do with the possible rather than a proportional response to anti western Islamic terrorism.

And the pakistani's have the bomb otherwise I think they would have been knocking on the gates of paradise.

Some brilliant and obviously effective approaches to law and order are going ahead. I hope all the people of Minneapolis enjoy their future in a no go area. Public Safety Committee. Robespiere must be laughing in hell. These people are dangerous idiots.

Endlessly trying to turn them into western consumerists....It's not the same situation of course but their are elements of the same misconceptions made by the nation builders in the middle east. It's the normal person who gets to pay for their egalitarian vanities.
