The silent majority really need to come to the table. Black white man woman LGBT right left middle. This needs to be dealt with without finger pointing. Media also need to drive this but I fear self preservation and politics wont let this happen.

Its interesting reading the posts back and forth about where you live... One of the things that came out of the inquiry into the Brixton riots in the 80s was a criticism that police officers policing Brixton all live in the counties and not in London.. I dont agree with that. If you want a better life and work hard for it and want to live outside London then good luck to you... We all surely as humans want to live in the best place possible to raise our kids etc.. I was born in Mitcham.. Im proud of it but didn't want to bring my kids up there.. I worked hard and saved and moved to Banstead in Surrey.. I shouldn't be made to feel guilty for that. I might live in middle class suburbia but I'm still a working class lad as well. Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

Its interesting reading the posts back and forth about where you live... One of the things that came out of the inquiry into the Brixton riots in the 80s was a criticism that police officers policing Brixton all live in the counties and not in London..

I dont agree with that. If you want a better life and work hard for it and want to live outside London then good luck to you... We all surely as humans want to live in the best place possible to raise our kids etc..

I was born in Mitcham.. Im proud of it but didn't want to bring my kids up there.. I worked hard and saved and moved to Banstead in Surrey.. I shouldn't be made to feel guilty for that.

I might live in middle class suburbia but I'm still a working class lad as well.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

Born and bred in Thornton Heath, loved growing up there, but by the time we were ready to start a family I did not want my children growing up there, not a snobby/racist thing just considering my kids future. However for WE to say everyone could choose to live in Cornwall if they wanted is ridiculous. My daughter works in the space industry having obtained a masters. In her area of expertise there is only probably 3 locations in the U.K. she could work, the nearest to Cornwall is Guildford, could she live in Cornwall? Born and bred in Thornton Heath, loved growing up there, but by the time we were ready to start a family I did not want my children growing up there, not a snobby/racist thing just considering my kids future. In any organisation like that, history shows that any moderate voices are replaced by extremists when it comes to the crunch.
