No. We must leave the EU because on June 23rd we had a vote. With two options. Leave or Remain. Leave won. That is why we are leaving. It is not complicated. I've been a bit bored with this thread for a while so may not be up to date. But I don't really understand why a third vote would be a breach of democracy. Why would you not trust people in a further vote, this time to confirm the outcome of the negotiation and give our Government its marching orders? It seems strange to argue that giving the country a vote is undemocratic.

The politicians said that they would accept the result of THAT vote: REMAIN or LEAVE. We voted to LEAVE. That's the result that they have to honour. There is no need for any other vote and to offer other options or not accept that which they said they would accept is not democratic.

I don't think to give people a confirmatory vote on the final deal can be anything but democratic. Instead of slogans on buses and criminal behaviour the public can vote on what is actually on the table. Not like 2016, I trust we don't want that again.

You can't have votes where the result isn't carried out. The argument for another vote means that a 'best of three', 'best of five', 'best of seven' argument is also valid. No, Brexit has to happen.

I don't think it a) will happen anyway and b) is necessary, in fact it's pretty stupid as ideas go, but to say it's not democratic is not strictly true. If everyone who voted last time out voted again, then it's fine. Also time doesn't stand still, you're not voting on the same pretence as last time and on both sides of the debate you're better educated, whether that changes your view or not / simply reinforces it. I do however find it amusing that the same people who currently say remainers are remoaners etc. and acting like babies (certainly true in some cases, mind) would then do just that and spoil ballot papers and so on. Everyones an idiot in the end.

'You can't have votes where the result isn't carried out' That is exactly what is happening with May's deal. A better option by far is to remain with the veto and undeserved position in the bloc.

You actually have a point. I need to become much, much colder about this. Nothing achieved by flying off the handle. As to getting locked up, it is a consideration. And the risk is one that I am not ruling out. The UK genuinely is on the cusp of something potentially tragic. People could potentially lose not only their liberty but their lives over this. I was bought up to believe that it was important to vote. That people had died to protect our right to express our choice at the ballot box. I think that since I turned 18 I have missed one election. I vote in every election that I can because I genuinely believe that it is the right thing to do. Was I an idiot to do so on June 23rd? Was I some kind of naive fool for believing that not only would my vote be counted but that the outcome would be honoured? Or is that right to vote not worth defending? Did they not die for peace and unity in Europe so there'd no more wars? looking at our European neighbours as enemies and being divisive flies in the face of that

Anybody who thinks it's ok to overrule the vote of 2016 and either remain in the EU or call for a 2nd referendum is calling on anarchy. In any future General elections or local elections the result can be ignored. Once this precedent has been set, there's no way back. The current batch of useless politicians will disappear, then what?
