Regarding trident...
49% of poll respondents said no to trident1

Which is in the minority to being with, but it's actually 20%.

and that's in a poll done for a lefty paper.

20% in favour of scrapping nuclear weapons completely. Read the article

I might be wrong but I think until pressed for an answer, the majority of people don't give it a moments thought, one way or the other. Every now and again it be raised as an issue whether because of cost or moral grounds but I think even for most reasonably politically engaged people it is a long way down the list.

Edited by Y Ddraig Goch (25 Jan 2016 5.46pm)

"Nuclear weapons have shown themselves to be completely useless as a deterrent to the threats and scale of violence we currently face, particularly international terrorism.

Who said that? Jeremy Corbyn? CND? The Archbishop of Canterbury?

No. It was three of the most respected and experienced military experts in the country – former Head of the Armed Forces Field Marshall Lord Bramall and former Generals Lord Ramsbotham and Sir Hugh Beach.

They added: “Our independent deterrent has become virtually irrelevant except in the context of domestic politics.”

They wanted to see the "huge" £20billion expense of renewing Trident spent on more conventional weapons and funding for our armed forces.

These former army chiefs said they wanted to start a debate on Trident ...

...And they rejected claims that not renewing Trident would see us lose our place on the UN Security Council. Just like Jeremy.

The armed chiefs went further. Lord Ramsbotham said: “I don’t think it is independent. First of all, we don’t own the missiles.

"And secondly, I think it’s absolutely unthinkable that we should consider or even threaten using it without having clearance of the US.”

So we’d been spending at least £20billion – and possibly as much as £100billion – on a weapons system that’s “completely useless”, that we can’t use independently and that would be better spent on our existing armed forces.

20% in favour of scrapping trident completely. 29% in favour of keeping it without nukes. 51% in favour of keeping it with nukes.

Stop wilfully lying on these boards. It's annoying. At best it's stupidity.

Optimistic as ever

Most people polled are generally ill informed/stupid but feel free to carry their torch.

We don't need nuclear weapons. Period.

Time to move forward together.

Sorry my mistake.

Still 49% don't want trident in the way it's been proposed. The majority that do want it is not significantly higher.

When will Labour realise that no-one really gives a f*ck about Trident. If they want to be credible they should start talking about the economy, welfare and immigration as those are the three issues at the top of the electorate's minds. They won't though, because their policy on the economy is the little red book, their welfare policy is to uncap it and their leader believes in open borders.

What a farce. At least you could have a begrudging respect for Labour when they were a bit credible under Blair, now they're just a laughing stock.

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

It's the media that keep bringing up trident. Labour have plenty to say on the other subjects.

Rubbish. It's up to them to set the agenda. If previous Labour oppositions could do it, so can they. It's called message discipline, giving the electorate a clear idea of what you stand for. Corbyn asking 6 questions on 6 different topics at PMQs is a prime example of the fact he cannot hammer a point home.

Labour seem to think you can convince people of your strategy without PR, which is obviously absolute tosh. There is nothing wrong with having a clear, coherent message.

I got this email today...........

As a rule, I don't usually circulate these "Please add your name to show support” appeals that appear in emails, BUT this one is very important.

It has been circulating for only a few months and has been sent to several million people.

Please keep it going!

To show your support for Jeremy Corbyn, just go to the end of the list and add your name.

1. Mrs. Corbyn.

2.

I can see why certain people do not want to go on the The Andrew Marr show as he is totally biased as we all know when watching it....

Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky.
