Interesting that the report in the Mail had WH as our best player with 7/10 - but then again they don't have an agenda. Surely the fact that we haven't scored in 10 of our last 11 PL games is the issue we should be addressing. In these 11 games we've conceded 23, but 10 of those have been at Man City. 13 in the other 9 is pretty reasonable.

Is there any point to this thread continuing - seriously? Do we need a new (ie better) goalkeeper? Of course - who doesn't? Then why didn't we buy one? Who knows (except the long procession of managers/coaches and SP)? Would Speroni do any better? Who knows (except the long procession of managers/coaches)? Their answer seems to be no so far... Would we have done any better against Man City with Speroni in goal? Are you serious? If by better you mean 4-0 or even 3-0, then you have a strange idea of 'better'. City are totally steamrollering teams at the moment, and 5-0 is by no means a discrace for a team in our position and state of mind. Remmember those playground games where 'somehow' all the best players got on the same side, and they gleefully roasted your miserable lot 12-0? Welcome to the premiership, it's the same thing! Pointless blaming individual players for a collective collapse in these circumstances. The BIG problem with our goalkeeper, if you hadn't noticed, is that we CANNOT get the ball in the opposition net, leaving us absolutely NO margin for error at the back and little confidence. From what I saw of the match - MoD and other highlights - we played very well in the first half, and you could see that the manager and coach are having a beneficial effect. Against weaker teams than City/United/Chelsea/etc we will do better for the whole 90 mins and pick up points.

As I say, I know for a fact that they have actively, almost aggressively been trying to replace him. He wasn't signed as a number 1 and isn't wanted as a number 1. Obviously is harder to sign a replacement than we know.

But you and others were advocating signing Bergovic long before he signed for Bournemouth and yet as soon as they bid for him they got him, did we even try?

Risky but a risk worth taking to get him in. Think we'll see the Striker and Goalie positions finally sorted in Jan.
