I think we are also seeing the benefit of the recent periods of rest our players have had (winter break / cup weekends). This combined with a few players coming back from injury have helped us enormously.

We have a mixture of players, some very good, some that work well with others in a unit and some that on their day, are good. However, we also ride our luck and as we have experienced, it doesn't always pan out - injuries, fatigue, plan a not working then having no plan b... But we have done enough, as is the remit, to survive with what we have. At times it's been poor, not pretty... but there have been good moments and lucky moments. We're basically at tipping point, it can go great with investment and restructuring or it could all end in tears and it seems like for now the plan is, 'hold tight, we don't know what quite to do'. I think the main objective is to reduce wages, get in longer term players whilst cementing our status in the league in record time. I've always said, if our main goal is to confirm status earlier each season, then that's progression to me. It's a way more positive way of saying survival is our objective - it just has the spin of, in record tme.

Agree with you that for the short to medium term the club is a bit confused about what to do next. No one expected us to stay up this long, now we’ve got the 9th longest continuous spell in the premier league and there’s not really a model for us to follow. I’d like to see a big push to get a high league finish, especially now we are almost safe. And if safety is all we are looking for in the league, it would be nice to see us have a go in the cups next season.

Lets hope the owners actually invest in the club. Roy has done his best and Now the board have to invest this summer. We do not want to be near relegation next season

The hierarchy must get the summer recruitment right if we can get some younger quality in then the future is looking sound. Just a major problem with the Stadium!!!!

Very true, we are a very neat and tidy outfit at the moment and today proves that beyond any doubt and we need to look no further then Mr Hodgson to understand fully that he is the sole reason that we find ourselves in the position of being safe with nine games still to be played.

I find myself slightly amazed to find Palace with the points total that we have and the middle of March yet to arrive. I have witnessed some groggy performance by Palace this season and haven't always enjoyed watching us play. I can't even say that we have been outstanding in many of the games we have won. However, on the train up to the match yesterday, I found myself stoutly defending Roy (and to an extent Parish) in the face of criticism from a mate. Whilst there was an element of devil's advocate in my argument ( I have at previous times expressed the same concerns as my mate), I pointed out that with 2 months of the season to go our place in the top flight is all but assured ( and this was before yesterday's victory) - some achievement! This has never happened in the 7 seasons we have been in the Prem. My mate was trotting out the much aired views that Hodgson is unadventurous, doesn't give younger players a chance, is poor in the transfer market, and has too many favourites whose names are automatically penned into the starting line-up. Countering this I asked him whether he would prefer that Palace were playing expansive football like that of Brighton (and hovering over the relegation zone), what youngsters did he have in mind ( given the dire record of our Under 23s), what about our summer signings Cahill and McCarthy who are proving increasingly valuable team members, and surely a settled team is no bad thing. Whatever Roy's shortcomings, in my books, his achievement is remarkable.
