Its a team game, but lets all blame Benteke. For me there have been a number of under performers so far this season and nowhere near what they achieve. Luca with Benteke that's half the team, its always going to be difficult. Talk of getting rid of Roy is ridiculous. Naive. It comes with the territory. He’s is our star striker who has been horrifically underperforming for a long time. He’s in the results business. That how he is judged. To suggest he hasn’t been supported through this period is nonsense. After Bournemouth penalty fiasco and the gifted penalty to him against Leicester we were all on his side. He hasn’t pushed on from there. I’m still supportive of him and would never boo a palace player. I just feel he has had long enough but hope something goes for him and he kicks on. I just don’t think he has it in him any longer Edited by MonsterMunch (02 Sep 2018 1.12pm)

Benteke to me looks like he's got the equivalent of the yips. He just seems terrified to do anything. Its totally all in his head

Looked back at Benteke’s chances against the Saints, 3 of them were very difficult, but the remaining 2 were gilt edged. I want him to do well for the team and himself, but last season and the start of this one, which has started off in the same vain I feel we have persevered for long enough now. Let’s go back to what we were doing well towards the end of last season. Admittedly we have lost Cabaye and RLC, but we have adequate replacements in Kouyate and Meyer, so there are no excuses. Play Wilf and Andros up front...

I would also add, the pressure he is obviously feeling, wether bought on himself or by us, too much can hinder him longer term - a break they say is as good as a rest.

Every time the team is published before a game and Benteke still in the line-up, I wonder what Roy H. is thinking about? And hoping for? The big Belgium simply can not score for the Eagles.....please cut the losses and let go. We have Ayew, why not give him some games - after all he scored 11 for relegated Swansea last season.

I agree its now more than taking chances. Both he and Ayew were easily shoved off the ball on Saturday, he doesn't run at defences, he gets rid as soon as he has it. He has pretty much has nothing to offer in his current mindset.

In a results related business I'm amazed how long Benteke's barren spell has been tolerated. He has been given every chance to up his game, yet it never happens. There comes a time when one has to cut the losses, and that time is now. I think it would be a relief for him and the rest of the team.

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |
