Actually just a new stand and some paint slapped on the other three. And if we are relegated expect some serious feet dragging on the whole project.

Why? The money is ring fenced for the project. Our 'stadium' is sub Championship standard right now so even if we are relegated, the upgrade is decades overdue.

Only time will tell. The two Americans are investors. looking for a return on their capital, which they won't see if we're in the Championship.

Yes, unfortunately I tend to agree with you, however I am still trying to be positive that it won't come to that.

Yes they will not sure if you understand how investment works if this ground work is done even if we are in championship it will boost the value of the club/ground/land

the other thing is it allows the ground to host events so it opens up a different market.

As I said, it remains to be seen. The new stand is three years away and, if we were to remain in the Championship, would the added value of single stand really compensate for the loss of PL income? A £100m+ loss of income a season to recoup? I have my doubts.

I think you have forgotten about the parachute payments when you drop down you don't miss out on that much which is why you see the teams relegated spend large amounts.

the other thing is fair few of the players would leave which would reduce costs.

The championship is not a death sentence like it used to be a lot of money has moved down their the problem is so many teams competing so it's very hard to say you will pop back up but you need to really do it in that first season

I haven't forgotten about the parachute payments, but as I said, the new stand won't be here for three years by which time the parachute payments will be finished. We don't have much of a history "popping back up the first season" do we?

I don’t know, ‘93/94 we bounced straight back. ’97 got back after 2 seasons. Took 5 years to get up next time and 8 years after that. Can’t be many clubs, if any, with a better track record of getting into the premier league.

Or, to put it another way, we've "bounced straight back" once and that was a quarter of a century ago. Plus the time it's taken to get back has gone from one to two to five to eight years; on that trajectory it could be 12+ next time.

Burnley came straight back up which was some achievement. They kept the nucleus of their PL squad selling Tripper and Ings but bringing in James Tarkowski and Andre Gray both terrific signings for them.Gray scored 25 goals for them in their promotion season. They also continued with Dyche as manager.

I somehow think that our player turnover will be much greater. And whether Hodgson stays is open to debate.

Classic Palace fan outlook to see our longest run in the top flight as part of a downward trajectory.
