Latest news is I've had all my mates WhatsApp me about Palace's transfers - some piss taking - some genuinely concerned. It's around the sh1ttest window I can remember. We're strengthening other teams - mostly by us standing still and getting weaker by the day. Suddenly Forest and Bournemouth look like Real Madrid - we look like Sutton Utd.

Worrying times! Macca, Luka, Butland and Zaha gone, Olise long-time injured and bound for Chelsea, VG leaving. With Lerma and a young, injured Brazilian the only incoming players and Hodgson refusing to use academy players, we will endure a very difficult season if we do not get at least two more first teamers coming in.

Some people don’t seem to realise, we are competing in the best league in the world against mega rich clubs, who FFP doesn’t seem mean much. For years, we were a yo-yo club, it seems keeping Palace in this league for our 11th consecutive season is a crime to some.

We have a strong central midfield and central defence and a solid keeper, but our wide areas are weaker than they have been for a long, long time. This has traditionally been our strength, so that is a big concern. We look organised and disciplined but the frustrating part is that we have such a solid base that if we'd kept Olise and signed another creative player we would be looking really strong and exciting. Right now that positivity is disappearing faster than Olise's social media posts.

The way we are getting rid of decent players without bringing in replacements is shocking, surely you must realise that a team requires eleven fit players to run out at the start of a game plus nine players of a certain calibre on the bench.Look at the Sheffield United match we were threadbare.

There's part of me that is disheartened now. Then there's the positive part of me. We have so far under SP's guidance managed to get a 11th year in the top division and mid table is probably the best we can ever hope for. We have bought in some excellent talent, so why can't we again. I think what worries me about the current window is that the clock is ticking and all the news is of players being sold and no signs of anyone else coming in. The disheartened side is winning at the moment.
