Edited by Willo (24 Sep 2017 10.29pm) I remember Willo and I agree. I'd say that Wayne is on par with AP in the vitriol stakes but he is in a much more dangerous position. And others can't cover for him like they can a midfielder.

He made a couple of saves in a 5-0 defeat. So what. Still made a mess of two and showed characteristic lack of bottle on the back of similar against Swansea. Question marks from some against Southampton but personally don't think he could do a lot else.

Quick question. Have you ever seen a Palace player come in for this much stick? If yes, who? If no, why do you think this is? Just taking it back to basics. There seem very few who give him so much stick as yourself on this site. David Wright for one. Earlier, before the internet, there were players that got a load of stick, David Price for instance. There were many others. The internet gives a belief that a few people being anti something is actually a great deal more than actually are. It amplifies something that isn't as prevalent in the real world. I believe he is getting stick because he is replacing Speroni and everything seems to be a comparison against them two and, as Speroni was/is incredibly popular, and was very good for us Hennessey was/is on a hiding to nothing with some fans. Does he make mistakes, of course. Does he make as many mistakes when the defence is better, of course not. This would seem to be true of any keeper. Edited by johnno42000 (24 Sep 2017 10.49pm)

Give him credit for those or you do come out seeming very one eyed in the way you watch a match. I do think he was at fault for the headed goal and perhaps could have done better for the first. That to me is a balanced view. I should add that I'd have liked us to have a real go at getting Heaton in during the Summer as I think he is an excellent keeper. I think the main problem Hennessy has is that he isn't a "conviction keeper" I played Sunday league etc (not comparing it) but if you went in half hearted you got told about it. He always looks like he is concerned about getting hurt. 6ft 5, he should be dominating his area and his one concern shoud be stopping the ball, not if he is going to get hurt. For that first goal watch his body language and face. That and the punch just after, it's about defensive not assertive. Being compared to Speroni is unfair as Speroni was prepared to put his body on the line. Edited by robdave2k (24 Sep 2017 10.49pm)

Trust me, he gets jut as much stick in real life. From everyone I sit around both home and away.

So you sit amongst others that share your view? That doesn't make it right. You really do seem to have a fixation about him which, considering we have not scored in ages, seems very weird. Do you post as much about our defence, midfield and attack or is it just a personal grievance against Hennessey?

Believe me, I don't give him stick at games but his performances have been way below the level required and I think he's been persevered with purely on the basis that he's younger and taller than JS. I get that some think his frame compensates and his kicking is good but almost every other aspect of his game looks dodgy. Even his handling.
