Palace V West Ham (Play-Off Final)
Cardiff V Palace (Carling Cup Semi-final)

Both games in Cardiff that I had tickets to, but couldn't go. Damn you secondary school education!

On a similar topic, anyone remember the tedious day spent at Wembley Stadium for the Centenary when Palace were playing in the 5 - a - side? I think we were the last match in the opening round after many hours sitting about, I think against Coventry. It was 0-0 and we lost on sudden death penalties (was it Barber who missed?).

was the mercantile credit trophy, we lost to the Wendys.

I've barely missed a home game in nearly 30 years but i did miss Steve Bruce coming back to Palace, for the 1st time, with Birmingham. I'd had a mad night, the night before, and had got completely hammered. I think i woke up at 4pm and cursed missing out on all the fun.

Pretty gutted I didn't get to the playoff semi second leg away at the weed. Can imagine that one is up there in the top 5 for anyone who was there!

Indeed, for me, the satisfaction of winning down there was better then the final.

Okay there is the 1990 semi which I missed and beating the weeds 5-0, but November 1975 also comes to mind.

But Palace v Mansfield in division 3 still rankles. I set off with plenty of time to spare. My journey to Selhurst consisted of just a single bus journey, albeit quite a long one.

So there I stood waiting for London Transport to provide me with carriage to Thornton Heath. I waited and waited and waited. At around 2:45, with no red bus in sight, I gave up and returned home.

I half-hoped that my disappointment would be lessened by hearing that I had missed a dismal 0-0 draw. But no - result Palace 4 Mansfield 1 and a reporter at the game claimed that this was a performance of a quality he'd never seen before from a 3rd division side!

I also missed the Sheff Utd play off final too because I was still sulking after Leicester's last minute winner 12 months earlier. I stormed out of Wembley that day as soon as the ball hit the back of the net and didn't return for 7 years!

These days I'm much more philisophical.
