There has been a volcanic eruption of conspiracy theories surrounding this event. Some of which are appearing here. Others not. They cannot all be right, and none might be. Investigations are proceeding at pace but as we know whatever they reveal won’t be trusted and will still be challenged by conspiracy theories 60 years from now. That’s now our world. One in which the truth is whatever you believe it to be. How do we deal with this lack of trust and the divisions it causes? Sadly, I have no idea. I found this interesting:-

A new low by a certain poster. I agree with the others here in that it's best to just ignore now.

One in which the truth is whatever you believe it to be. How do we deal with this lack of trust and the divisions it causes? Sadly, I have no idea. I found this interesting:- I have a theory of my own - I've seen the image of the shooter, including one of his 'graduation' from high school which screams 'bullied at school'. Add to that I also read he worked in a nursing home or something, a job which does not scream 'glamour, money and prestige'. Take a young man, bullied at school and who perhaps generally not doing too well in life, add in the political extremism of the US and a left wing narrative that focusses upon telling such individuals their suffering is somebody else's fault and points a finger at Trump, within a culture that almost celebrates firearms, and it is hardly the most shocking outcome. 'Young man suffering in life, feeling disempowered and disenfranchised, wanting to blame someone or something else other than himself and provided with that bogeyman but the propagandist state, looks to the very accessible weaponry to do something which will make him feel very important and salvage him from his misery'. Less of a conspiracy for me and more of a rational theory, but I could be a million miles off of course.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

But yes, I detest violence of every kind and never want it to succeed. I wish he had never been born, not that he must now be removed. He exists, but so does the populism that allows such a character to be elevated to high office. It’s the belief in populism as a solution to political problems that needs to be removed. Not the pawns that try to manoeuvre their way to become kings. Trouble is you can't start quoting conspiracy theories after dismissing them as worthless in cases where they don't fit a certain narrative.

I would add - if you write what you post to wind people up or get a reaction, then great job! That anybody gets wound up by reading other opinions is their problem. It’s not my intention, I just express my opinions, which in a free society, in a place where freedom of speech is frequently championed, I find being disliked a little odd! That some believe that holding socially liberal, fiscally conservative, middle of the road, progressive political views is the reason for the UK “going down the pan” is quite sad. I am proud we have moved on from the politics of the past to become a more inclusive and tolerant society and am disappointed that pockets of resentment still exist. I was merely pointing out how conspiracy theories arise. You regard this one as ridiculous. Some others would regard some posted here the same way.

If quoted it will only be as an example. The problem is that some have total conviction in them and this is being exploited politically. This is another reason for the political divisions we are seeing. Even if an investigation determines this guy was acting alone and a series of security failures enabled him to nearly succeed there will be many who refuse to believe it, convinced that the authorities, administration, deep state, CIA, FBI, Fauci, Biden, Clinton, Obama or Uncle Tom Cobbly were actually behind it.

None of which include the example quoted which was that Team Trump arranged it for pre election publicity.

You already know, and we all should know better than feeding the troll. What you actually already know is that I am not a troll. I have posted here for many years. That I hold opinions that differ from the majority here is obvious, but out in the real world mine are much closer to the majority view than those inside the right wing bubble that dominates here. It’s you that’s unusual, not me. This is not a site devoted to right wing politics. It is a forum of the football club I have supported for 70 years. I have belonged since its inception. Trolls deliberately disrupt. I don’t. I post my opinions. Opinions of a fellow supporter. You don’t agree with them. I don’t agree with yours. That’s life!
