How would you go about easing overcrowding?

Build more prisons?

Yep, build more houses and more prisons.

If these clowns are fine with pumping up the population then that comes at an infrastructure cost.

That doesn't solve the problem now though - with our record on building infrastructure, you might get it done within a decade.

I get the sentiment but that's not a solution to the problem in the short-term.

My broader point is that this is clearly an inherited problem, which needs an immediate solution - if we're going to criticise a brand-new government for it, we need to at least know what we are suggesting they should be doing...

No but it's an on going programme.

Good news this morning on how the economy performed in May. A tough act for Rachel Reeves to follow. No, let me guess, business "boomed" (to quote the BBC report) in anticipation of a Labour victory in an election that hadn't been called yet and nothing to do with the Conservative government.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

I'm not really sure what point you're making - yes, part of the solution is obviously to increase infrastructure, but we can't open a new prison tomorrow.

It's clearly an issue which needs a more immediate fix.

An all-electric prison. Will that include a chair?

Just that there is a £4 billion prison expansion programme in place.

It had better include a big bag of shillings to keep the meter running.

Are they claiming credit? Is any credit due? Was any upturn just the nation's passive reaction to international factors beyond the government's control?

Even if they are, since time immemorial governments have claimed credit for work done by previous governments. I don't recall you complaining when say Trump did just that.
