I just can't see him going to Newcastle, figure he'd rather be in the Capital unless one of the big clubs came for him.

Presumably the Newcastle representatives will be "talking up" their future path to success driven by substantial investment (within PSR of course) & capabilities of joining that "big club" group.

I believe Newcastle paid about £130 Mill in transfer fees last season.
In pre-season they have purchased Lewis Hall for a fee which could reach £35 Mill.
Perhaps Isak will depart and he will command a substantial fee.

Apropos their players in central defence at present, Fabian Schar is 32 as is Paul Dummett, Jamal Lascelles is aged 30 accordingly there are some 'Oldies' in their squad.

I’ve just watched Glasner’s post match interview from last night.
He mentions that 5 players will be rejoining the squad in training next week and specifically name checks Marc Guehi amongst them.
It’s probably best not to read too much into this, but it does perhaps give an indication that Guehi’s move is not as far down the line as the papers would have you believe.

Definitely. Nevertheless, I expect Guehi to go in this window if he refuses to extend his contract, otherwise his value will only decrease in the next and subsequent windows.

If the rumours of Palace wanting £50m up front plus add-ons are true, this may suggest that DF and SP recognize that they need to get a deal done this month and the sooner the better. That kind of figure may well tempt one or two of the bigger clubs to join Newcastle in the auction.

Whilst Guehi has been a good player for us, his loss won't (IMO) be felt as keenly as would that of Olise or, if he goes, Eze.

The fact is now the time to cash in. Let him go and please spend wisely.
Eze- no he has to stay for another season.
Also, why would anyone want to sign for Newcastle?

According to several clickbait sites, L'pool have entered the 'race' to buy £75m Guehi & could force Newcastle into a bidding war. Ergo, his price has already gone up & could go up further in clubs fighting over him. Bring it on i say . . . [Link]

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

Good to see clickbait has hit the right value for Guehi at last. At £75m Im sure there is a deal to be done. Either that or an extended contract with us.
As a club our combination of Parish Freeman and Glasner and their back room teams seem to have built an in depth knowledge of the transfer market. Im very happy to watch them perform. We have already brought in three players at very good prices and seen Olise go for an excellent up front deal.
Im sitting back relaxed, hoping like everyone else that Eze sees sense in staying to enjoy what should be a very special season ahead.

I think Guehi is a good to very good player but certainly not irreplaceable in terms of what he brings to the pitch. However, he comes across as a very intelligent individual and a leader with good values. He will be one of the key players in keeping the dressing room together and happy which i think is why he is so highly valued.

Agree with your post re a reasonable valuation and the need to move him on in this window.

Whilst i also agree we have cover i do think we are a better team with him in it.
Marc can easily play either side of Andersen and often plays on the left side anyway, despite being right footed.

This would give Riad a bit of time to get up speed as he is still quite young.
Furthermore the 3 we have been playing in friendlies (Riad, Andersen and Richards) are head and shoulders our best 3 so injuries could have a significant impact.

Lerma has shown he can do a decent job and Ward/Clyne have covered on the right. However, none of these 3 are naturals in these positions.
I suppose Holding is the Andersen replacement.

Guehi playing anywhere across the back gives OG more flexibility.

Sounds like Newcastle bid is hotting up.
With add ons, Im hoping its nearer £70m than £60m.
I would assume Newcastle AKA Saudi Arabia can pay the lot up front, or at least a decent slug of it.
