It might not look good but so what? Newcastle playing hardball with Ashworth is the same situation but it is not stopping Freedman from considering moving there Sure he's been a great asset to the club but so has Eze. There's no way we would let the latter go on a free to Newcastle just because he wanted to play for them. If Freedman has a contract running into the future and Newcastle want him enough they should cough up and not be hypocrites and take Palace for a soft touch. Apparantly, we have just told Bayern to do one regarding Glasner and Freedman is of similar importance to the club I don't think they are even thinking that. In fact, the phrase they have put out is compensation no issue.

It took years, but I think most people here have now forgiven him for that move. This is a completely different situation. I'd hate to see him go too, but if Newcastle, with their war chest over the next few seasons, comes knocking and bumps his salary tremendously, I'd not begrudge Dougie for taking the job. I would. He's at a club he supposedly loves, starting to see the fruits of his labour. I'm sure he's got a decent wage and is respected by the players and board. When will he show a bit of loyalty rather than jumping ship at the first opportunity

Im sure we will do what's best for our club. If we still need him moving forward, then we need to adjust his deal accordingly.

I would love to know what percentage of any transfer fees CPFC receive ends up in Freedman's pocket.

He probably qualifies for an annual bonus based upon a number of KPI of which one parameter will likely be the overall profitability of his department - Originally posted by tonymikejoe

Love Freedman and the job he is doing. I maybe a bit blinkered but think he would be mad for leaving. We are on the verge of something amazing at Palace. All the pieces are starting to fit and with the leadership of Glasner there is no reason we can’t do what Villa have done next season. Something amazing is brewing, we just need to keep everything as it is. Anyone for that matter thinking of leaving this summer would be well advised not to. The club is on the up big time.

If it did he'd be running at a spectacular loss. In his tenure we've sold 2 players that we've bought Benteke, and Sorloth (AWB was a youth team player). By my maths he's net -200m

He doesn’t control the outgoing but there will be a residual asset value on the P&L to correspond to the purchase price. I liked Dougie as a player, manager and sporting director so hope he stays but there are many factors personal and professional that will influence his decision. Like any of us we will make choices that are in our best interest, except Wissie who makes decisions for the betterment of the world!!
