It depends where you look I guess, but I've seen £7.5m and £7m quoted.

The sticking point for me though is with your info being that there is an obligation to buy. An option perhaps, but no more than that.

It is (I think?) one of the reasons Newcastle got Lewis Hall. They were ready to agree an OBLIGATION. Perhaps we are learning..?

From memory, Dazza has asserted that he is not ITK and only forwards on information he has received.

I appreciate that he has been pilloried but is it within the realms of possibility that he is merely trying to be informative in good faith.I would accept that some of his assertions have not aged well !

He has intimated in the past that he is ITK, hence the cynicism.

That said, and in all fairness, he has not asserted that these latest were from his "sources", so I suspect he is merely copy pasting for the benefit of those who do not follow Newsnow or similar.

If I were him, rather than come back to us and earn say £4m/year I would go straight to Saudi and get x5 that tax free.

Yes but as I've suggested previously, Olise will decide who he moves to, not Palace, nor MUFC.

Well the way I see it is we wouldn't be prepared to pay City's asking price for a permanent deal. I read that they want close to their money ( £45m ) back. Hence my comment...

Philips, to me, only makes sense as a short-term stop gap while Doucoure recovers. I would be delighted if we signed him on loan as I think he is top drawer, but he's too old for us to be throwing big money at him as a permanent signing. Leave that to the big clubs. Looking at Sky Sports analysis of it we are starting to look like one of the only PL options open to a deal as everyone else seems hamstrung by FFP or doesn't need him. It might be he ends up in Germany or Spain though.

Too old for a permanent move? Philips is 28, Yohan Cabaye was 30 when he joined us and we got a fair few seasons out of him. Finances will be the sticking point if there is any mileage on this.

100 per cent this . Only as a loan with no obligation to buy IMO also Doucoure will be back and collecting yellows next season . Kalvin is 28 and over priced and overweight prob from carrying his wallet around with him .

Just read on TEAMTALK

"As a result, Newcastle are now very much seen as favourites to land [Phillips], especially as City’s stance has softened over their demands for a straight cash sale.

City reportedly rate Phillips in the £50m bracket, though it’s now understood they would accept a £6m loan fee for the player if the move contained an option to make the move permanent over the summer."

Now where have I recently seen something similar but involving us? Hmmm?

All our moaning about parish and the board, could it be that we have just side stepped the ffp trap and cut our cloth accordingly. Not exciting but better than getting hit with points deduction. Let’s face it 10 points of us and we would be well and truly busted.
