Michael Olise Thigh Injury Jan 03: 'We have to nurse him through and hope he comes back as quickly as possible. The next question will be how long is he out, but I can't answer that one. We're [b]hoping this one won't be as bad as the one that put him out for six months.' No Return Date Currently Being Assessed Ruled Out

Hmmm, this dose not fill me with confidence.

Clarke is right footed, and is an outstanding prospect, he is 23, has scored 21 goals and 14 assist, in what i class the second hardest division in Europe, at reading Olise had 7 goals and 12 assists, you, me or anyone know how he we perform in the Premier, but i suspect he will be fantastic, the long term replacement for Olise could be Morgan Whittaker who is developing very well, nobody wants Olise to leave but he will in the summer, start planning ahead

Poor against Newcastle though wasn't he. Has a fair bit of potential going forwards, albeit nothing that troubled Trippier, and defensively he looked lost.

Worrying that he's older than Olise given how far Clarke currently is behind him. I don't think he's anywhere near being good enough to be a key attacking player for us.

Olise did all those numbers before he turned 20. Clarke didn't make his Sunderland debut until he was 21.

He may get a Premier League career but I'd be surprised if it's anywhere near the top half unless a good coach gets a really good grip of him soon. Needs to leave Sunderland ASAP to have that happen.

Hope so, what we all want is Olise fit and flying ASAP, but, i think not to loan a winger with Ayew away and a question mark over Olises´s fitness is a terrible mistake

Agree.

We lost Zaha, have lost Doucoure to AfCON and now Olise's fitness is a serious doubt.

I'm not holding out hope for one incoming player let alone more however surely this has to be a priority? Our plan to scrape through this season at least is looking an increasingly precarious one.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Can't remember the last time we made an impactful January signing before ~25th January. Always surprises me how long the January window takes to get going.

It takes a while to scrape together all the loose coins around Selhurst for out transfer kitty

Spot in. I like Clarke, but Sat's game showed the difference between the Champ and the Prem.
Didn't have a great impact and defensively he was woeful.
Comparing a then 22 year old Clarke vs Olise at 18 /19 in a weaker team too is a little unfair.

I think he could be a decent signing but only at the right price - nearer £10m for me and not the £20m they'd want for him.

Maybe one for next summer?

100% agree. Clarke has shown over the last 2 seasons that he can perform at that level and is worthy of a chance in the Prem.

But has to be closer to 10m as you said

From a simplistic point of view if any of the money clubs thought he was a viable alternative for Olise they'd buy him and save £50m while they're the focus of FFP scrutiny.

The problem is we will never be able to but a ready made mid twenties established premier league player, cant afford it, Clarke would cost 25m already, and i dont think he is worth that, the two most likely players to leave in the Summer are Olise and one of the center backs, Ronnie Edwards and Morgan Whittaker should be purchased in this window for about 20m for the pair knowing you are getting 100m+ in six months

Hmmm, this dose not fill me with confidence.

Im sure Olise will be receiving maximum specialist attention and rehabilitation for his injury. But based on the original tear and immediate surgery, depending on the severity of the injury the normal full rehabilitation is 3-6 months for an athlete. This obviously depends on many factors (severity of tear, success of surgery, natural healing abilities etc etc). To return too quick and suffer another tear or strain to the same hamstring is not good news obviously. I doubt anyone will put a time frame on it, but just the fact it has re occurred in the same hamstring, I am guessing they are measuring full recovery in months not weeks.
