This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

Not really in the sprit of the game; and 2nd place were none too keen as they were not afforded that honour by said cr@p team. Teams don't do that anymore. However, in this case, perhaps the poster is suggesting that if the player is there or there abouts that is not enough where there are such fine margins. They need to be all the way there to play. TBH - fed up with this “namby pamby” nonsense - these players are paid a fortune to be on the pitch and playing - when they retire none of them will have to work again..!! So now is the time to put it in and deliver what they are so elaborately paid for…!!! None of this - I still have a slight pain - oh OK take another few days/week off - no you get out there and play - this ain’t school it’s the Premier League..!! We’ve all played with knocks you just live/deal with it..!! When we won promotion with the “Team of the 80’s” - I can’t recall more than 13 players playing all season long - and we only had one Sub…!! So what is it with modern day footballers..?? IMO - it’s just too easy - they get paid whatever..!! Grow a pair and get out there and play..!! Rant over..!! COYP

Well we have a light at the end of the tunnel hopefully with injurys issue , but will be holding my breath until we have played 3 games , Franca well lets all get on our knees and pray he is the next missiah for 18months then he will get brought grrrr , done some of my own research on injurys and it seems the tempo of the game is quicker than the players , so all clubs train them like athletes , so all the sprinting , stopping in a match is taking its toil on the human body mainly lower limbs hence all the muscle injurys ,

Hi Plaistow Eagle, I'm no expert but i'm guessing with modern sport science the fitness levels required for players today vs the team of the 80s is much higher and making sure there is a duty of care is also in place to ensure that players bodies and brains are not damaged so that they can have a good retirement. Despite the fact they all earn way too much for kicking a bag of wind around, they are human and deserve to be treated with care and decency. Also i'm pretty certain it's not in the players hands to say they are fit, but in the hands of the medical teams these days. I could be wrong, but that's my current understanding. But surely with better and improved fitness, diets, medical and rehabilitation available - you would think the number and length of injuries would go down not up against yesteryear..!!?? Just seems to me there are more injuries now than ever - why is that..?? My theory you can almost be too fit - bit like a Formula 1 car everything stressed to the absolute limit..!! Also don’t things like modern boots help - nothing to them in terms of protection, also pitches may be a factor - a lot are semi synthetic. Who knows - but it all seems rather odd..!! COYP

COYP The reason there are more injuries now, is the pace of the game is much faster. Players are given proper care to get over injuries. In the past basically before the Premier, players with knocks, injuries etc were given steroids and opioids to mask the pain and told to play, those players now in their 50s and 60s struggle to get out of bed in the morning due to the pain.

I think the competition for places on the bench is going to rack up a bit now. Ebiowei looked good in the Monaco highlights and Franca was also on the score sheet. Although it is early Adaramola and Ferguson played in a competitive game, and they can hopefully start to challenge Ward and Mitchell for a spot in the first team though this may not be until next season. Ahamada also came through the game and i am sure he will be in the squad against Spurs.

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry. |

Ferguson is injured again, but Roy's unsure of the severity.
