Yeah I think its all about being pragmatic.

If said player wants to leave, we have or have identified a replacement, and are get the money we want then all good.

As you said, there are lots example of great players rotting on benches.

Is this what the future looks like?
We discover/ develop a talent and feel fortunate to have them in our team for a season or two?
We wave them off grateful that the ‘bigger’ club have made a ‘generous’ offer and been kind enough to give us enough notice to endeavour to buy a replacement.
I hope we can be a bit more ambitious while recognising there may be the occasional exception where it suits us and the buying club (e.g AWB).
I wouldn’t want to see us sell every time a big club make an offer.
I was reassured by Parish’s comments in Sunday’s programme where he was acclaiming our resolve to hold onto our players.
We are not Brighton and don’t believe it’s our objective to sell every talent.
Man City are supposedly already eyeing up teenager Ferguson and Mitoma.
Seems excessive as they’ve just bought Doku, already have Grealish , Foden , Silva , Alvarez and Haaland .
And Pep still moans about how they’re hard done by….

Yep, unless a thick headed billionaire takes over, that is it, and I don’t think I would want that to happen anyway

“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn

Something that Olise didn't want at Chelsea presumably. Once fit again he'll want to carry on improving under the watchful eyes of Ray and Roy until he reaches the level that will likely make him one of the first choices at a big club if they want him and then he'll leave us (for a very nice fee).

Gonna make an early prediction that Olise goes to Liverpool next summer as a replacement for Salah when the Saudis finally get him.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

It's a possibility but I think Liverpool might then want someone who is better on the defensive end to help out Alexander-Arnold. Salah is not that great on that front but, of course, his goals outweigh that as an issue

Newcastle seems a more likely alternative to me. Almiron isn't good enough for a Champions League team. Or PSG

Yeah replacing an out and out central striker with a winger is a great idea!

Really? Since when has Salah been a central striker? Whenever I've seen him he's been playing wide right and cutting in to score his goals. Just because he's scored plenty of goals doesn't make him a central striker.

Yeah very strange.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

My prediction is he won’t go to Chelsea unless he wants to play next season in the Championship

He is played often as the main striker but whether you agree with that or not you are a moron if you believe Liverpool would look at Olise as a ready made replacement for Salah. And before you back track like so many on here do by saying ah yes but given time, coaching, blah, blah, he might get there in the end I'd say thats not what was suggested.

Clearly you dont watch Liverpool very often then. Since Mane left and they realised how s***e Nunez is they have used Salah more centrally quite a lot. Not always granted but they have done so.
