Selling the family silver without adequate, appropriate replacements means one thing: The wealthiest club in the Championship. Guehi was why we were linked to Schuurs and Laporte. But there's an argument over the fee - we are playing hard ball for 65 mil - fair enough. Nothing finalised on Olise - hence the actual lack of rumours about replacements. We look like we were surprised by Zaha leaving and didn't think Olise would leave too. Hence the statements like we won't be selling more than one of our top players etc. Our issue is the players aren't buying it. Olise can be approached by his brother and no wrong doing has been done. We've clearly been blind sided by this and do not have replacement wingers lined up. I'm hoping maybe Summerville at the least. I'm not in the know - hearing rumours from other fans.

Interesting read, particularly as it is claimed that there is definitely NO release clause!! Interest from many clubs, including City,Arsenal,Chelsea and PSG and at what price should we decide to sell with this degree of interest??

I worry that he will not be the same player after his injury ,A grade 1 tear needing an operation is very serious, sure he will recover but will he be the same, players like Michael Owen were never the same after doing a similar injury and were dogged with hamstring injuries for the rest of their careers. So it may make sense to cash in

My thoughts as well DB, look what happened to Bolaise at Everton.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

I see that the articles on Olise have now started to back track on a release clause of 35m. However, they still persist on saying he is close to agreeing terms with other clubs, mainly Chelsea. I am sure that an under contract player or their representatives cannot talk to other clubs without the express permission of their current club (the only exception is when they are in the last 6 months of their deal) Olise is under contract until something like 2026. So is that either these stories are outright lies or Palace have given permission ?

I’d take the money. Bought for £8M, likely to get North of £40M. We’ve had a good short spell out of him. He’s clearly had his head turned now and we aren’t going to have him playing for the first few months of the season anyway, whilst he recovers from his hamstring injury. If we can pick up jems like Eze & Olise for sensible money then there’s no reason we can’t profit from the sale of Olise and replace him for a fraction of the fee received.

Accuracy of delivery and vision, thats unlikely to be impacted by the injury.

My thinking too. On the odd occasion I have seen Mickey beat players with pace I am surprised by how quick he actually is which tells me he relies far more on his footballing ability than his athleticism and leans toward that during games. My hope is he comes back from injury just as he was and all is fine and dandy with the world. If he is seriously affected by it however and the head has been turned perhaps we'd be better off with the moolah and reinvesting it (not that I have great faith in that process)? Who knows how this will play out.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |
