you are correct Eagle. However, i do recall a discussion around us taking the site of the Athletics Track in Crystal Palace. Its got good Rail links & bus-links, plus the Overground, but sh1.tty roads.

An East-West extension of the Tramlink through there would surely make the whole idea viable ? and of course , its our ancestral homeland. Plus near the site of the original FA cup finals.

With lots of land in the immediate environs, we could create a stadium to rival that of Spurs. And given our fanbase, we could get an enormous crowd every matchday.

No it hasn't! I take it you haven't been there at 6pm on a weekday? The station can barely cope with daily commuters and that road is backed up with traffic.

Selhurst at least is serviced be 3 nearby train stations (Thornton Heath, Norwood Junction, Selhurst) with fast links to central London

I have used all of them numerous times.

The Crystal Palace station is fine for it's current purpose but would need work in which it would have done with a larger stadium.

You have missed out on that is not the only station yes it nearest tot he site but it has others around it as well.

Penge West - 0.4 miles
Gipsey Hill - 1.0 miles
Crystal Palace - 0.3 miles
Bus Hub - 0.4 miles

Bus hub could be important this is how bigger clubs aided in transport upgrades.

Norwood - 0.5 miles
Thorton - 0.6 miles
Selhurst - 0.5 miles

It's opinion about distances to one person walking half a miles is fine to another person it's not also take into account people with mobility issues so it's not only the distance but the facilities and a-b roads/paths etc.

All this doesn't matter anyway we are a small minded club which operates as such the only thing we may do is that one stand nothing else and until we have a date for this it's all fantasy.

Didn’t Parish say on Sky Sports before Spurs game that the Main Stand will stay open whilst building the new stand like they have done at Liverpool cos we are using the same builders?

If so this is worrying as they said on Talksport this morning that both the Anfield Road stand and the one at Fulham remain unfinished as they both had the same building company who have just gone BUST!!!

I think he meant the same type of construction. I believe the job is out for tender.

Job done.
We are a joke.

Incorrect. Fulham have been looking at that longer than we have been looking at a new main stand and also the fit out of Fulham stand is not complete.

The topic of Selhurst or move has been well thrashed out here already.
My take is we will press on now with the impressive new stand and face lift at Selhurst. We will remove the gantry on the Arthur, adjust the White Horse and fill in the space between the Arthur, Homesdale and New stand.
TV cameras will look onto a very dated Arthur, so we may (wishful thinking) do a very simple facelift even a kind of cantilever roof to eliminate the stanchions and angle the roof up a bit..
We will end up spending c. £150-200m. (of shareholder funds apparently.)

Then the future dream!

If we continue to solidify our Premier status and a European breakaway super league does not materialise, and (BIG if) if we were ever to find a multi billion investor with designs on creating one of the best ever sporting facilities in South London, well then we could move back to Crystal Palace national park, spending say £1-2 billion on creating a 40000 seater stadium surrounded by many attractive bolt ons. (Comprehensive state of the art sports centre, sports clinic, shopping centre (repeating the original Crystal Palace style at the top of the park), improved transport links, hotel, huge underground car park and a very green park overhaul.
With a very ambitious positive plan and a huge investment, I would imagine that with the right positive vibe, even the NIMBYS could be persuaded.
I hasten to add that this dream is way off reality, but would probably ensure that by then if there was ever a Super League, we would be part of it.

At my advanced years, I very much doubt I will experience my rump making contact with a padded seat in the new 'Main Stand'.
