I watched the game on a stream and thought Olise's goal was a goal of the month contender. Then I read the report here, and on the BBC, which both say it was deflected. I have watched it back several times and I don't see any deflection at all. It might just have brushed a defender but there was no deviation at all. He has tried the same shot several times and got close but today got right. The bend he gets is terrific and a nightmare for keepers. So I don't think he just fooled the goalkeeper. He has confused some of the commentators too. Did anyone else see a deflection? If so I must book a visit to Specsavers! There seemed to be deflection but nothing like it would appear from reading match reports. Obviously little old Palace beating the World Cup winners, doesn’t fit well with certain parts of the media. Edited by Spiderman (07 Nov 2022 8.24am) To my ageing eyes the ball made a slight contact with the defender and looped over the goalkeeper and in to the net.Whether the ball would have entered the net without such contact is a matter for conjecture.

A surprisingly dominant display. There were little things you could niggle at, but overall probably one if not the best performance of the season. My tuppence was that I thought Clyne was excellent, on one occasion showing the benefit of a bit more pace in defence. On the other flank I also thought TM had a good game, which given it was in front of Southgate is a positive for him personally. It was also great to see how happy the players all looked at the winner. If we play like that we should beat Forest which would put us in a really strong position heading into the WC. Imagine if at the start of the season someone had suggested that at this stage we'd be level on points with Liverpool and two points behind Chelsea...I think most of us would have laughed at them!

Yes an excellent dominating performance where we got the minimum we deserved. But i do think its about time people realise what we actually have this season at the club. If you watch the TV shows you will see the pundits say we are a good watch or we are a really exciting team going forward and yet some people on here castigate a first half of a game because we are not as strong as the second or visa versa ,or each week predict that we are going to lose or worse still say we are going to be relegated .Based on what ,admittedly we have had one total crap game against Everton (PV even accepted) but every other game we could, should and in a lot of cases have got what we deserved, hence our position today.I really think that we are a couple pf players away from being a top 8 side and some people should start to appreciate that

Everything is moving in a positive direction. Doesn't mean we are going to win every week, or even play well every game. Its sport, there are so many variable so progress is always going to be fluid.

Compare yesterday with the lame performance at Goodison a couple of weeks ago - not the same team ! We started well yesterday, but the old adage about needing to score when on top was evident once West Ham took the lead. However, great response from our boys, we continued to look the better team and ultimately got our just reward. As for Antonio and Dawson - ain't Karma a bitch

The narrative is about our exciting players and attacking threats. As i say we are a couple of players away from top 8 one being a striker , we create plenty but do not convert enough like yesterday and Southampton, but your post outlines my wider post always a negative

Gianluca Scamacca who played yesterday never impressed at all and the striker for whom W.Ham paid £30.5 Mill has only scored 2 goals in 12 games.
