We have never been totally comfortable and flirting with relegation is anywhere below mid table until the maths say otherwise. We lack an attacking midfielder which is critical in setting up those chances in the last third where we are at our weakest. Last friday we had just two chances, both missed. The manager has already said we are a leat three players short of our needs for this season. On this occasion we may have to agree to disagree but I do respect your views and only time will tell who is correct.

The manager has already sent out distress signals about our pre-season preparation and the fact that the squad is short of numbers.
In terms of outfield players we have only signed ONE, Doucoure who is a starter whilst he has seen Benteke, Kouyate, Gallagher depart and McArthur in his mid-30s has become injury prone.Richards is a back-up option and Ebiowei and Plange are players of potential.

Still, nearly 3 weeks until the 'Window' closes !

As you say there is three weeks to go, but Viera, has said we need more, and quiet honestly it’s obvious we do ,until Gallagher is replaced we are short if only in numbers for mid field. Although he was far more than making up the numbers. The worry being we have been here before. It happened most years of Hodgsons time. And quiet honestly , individuals previous to Roy , found it easy to not have faith.
If we are dreaming of cracking the top half of the table one more is the least we need, two in fact. Not sure but I think Viera, actually said as much a few weeks bock.

I think we have a decent squad. Decent back ups in almost every position.

I'd like to have a proper 2nd left back. Another centre mid. Another forward.

If we don't get those players, we still have a good squad. I don't agree that we don't have attacking midfielders...Eze and Schluup should be regarded as attacking midfield players.

I agree we do have a decent squad, however we don’t have a good enough starting 11. Some of those that started against Arsenal are better for bringing on during a game. The balance in midfield is the major problem and until we strengthen our first 11 we will struggle in my opinion.

Absolutely agree PC!

Schlupp for me an impact player and Ayew tactical.

We have good numbers and mix in our squad however a starting XI where you say 'That should be our team, we'll win with that side' is still a few biscuits short of the tin.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I agree with this statement provided the player has some bite as per Gallagher and hope that this particular need will be sorted in the coming 3 weeks of the window. for me it's the no. 1 priority.

Indeed DE, indeed.

However, I do think we have a good squad generally plus injuries and suspensions are something all clubs have to deal with but going back to my original post a few of our first team, for me, are 'squad players' already and that is the concern - our starting XI looks like a prem team missing a few starters, due to the aforementioned, mid-season.

Sunday will be interesting as I guess that if Conor doesn't make it on to the pitch Dougie will be straight on to the phone to him

I am at a complete loss to understand the whole Barca situation -
They publicly declare that they cant pay their players, sell Messi to recoup losses & get him off the books (along with other players) they dont live up to their contracts with existing players (this De Jong being owned £ Millions & how many more are there) they cant register new players because of their financial situation yet they continue to buy players like Raphina from Leeds who even said he preferred to go to Barcelona rather than Chelsea when Chelsea are a club who can actually afford to make good on their financial commitments - the whole thing seems ridiculous

Essentially Barca and Real Madrid are huge institutions within Spain. There is no way they can go bust. Suspect they are bigger than the banks in the country. As a result their reach can go beyond sport.

Provocative!

The old, Guardiola-esque 'He is an X player' has often been employed in lieu of 'We haven't signed him yet and I cannot comment as it may disrupt plans'... let's hope so anyway, thanks Northbrook.

Working to 'improve the squad' and 'replace Benteke' also encouraging in those wanting more signings including another striker, so just about everybody!
