It's taken me until now to watch MOTD and the review of the game because I was so annoyed... and I am 57. 40 years of Palace makes you circumspect, usually immune. Definitely offside for their 2nd goal. Definitely not a penalty (the worst decision I have seen, given VAR). As soon as they replayed their goal I could immediately see Firmono was offide and in play so what actually is Paulson doing at that point? Celebrating? When they replayed the penalty shout I could immediately see that the ball was gone, Joto moved towards Guaita and it was a collision. Pawson then spends 5 minutes working the clips hard enough to convince himself black is white and then shoves it onto Friend who hasn't the guts to stand by his decision. To be fair to Friend, by the time you are at the video monitor, the VAR ref has got the clips exactly right to make sure that the onfield ref has to think the VAR knows something he doesn't, i.e. a clear and obvious error. When as a professional I make errors that are blatant and my fault, I apologise to the client. Why can't we expect the same from these two? If not I suspect we will make Selhurst a place where they are neverwelcome. And rightly so. Edited by thetopgeezer (25 Jan 2022 6.56pm) They will never apologise! What ever reasons which we will never know for giving the decisions they will find the minutest shred of evidence to stand by their decision. The VAR tool has just become another way to allow the bigger clubs to gain more decisions which is very depressing. The anger I felt for a few days after the match made me question whether to go again. I’ve been a season ticket holder for 30 years plus and if this becomes a regular occurrence against the so called bigger clubs that’s it for me.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Kevin Friend - Dropped' by becky I see Pawson still gets a game which is the only Premiership game this weekend. Both him and Friend should have been dropped over the offside 2nd goal and penalty given - grrrr!

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Kevin Friend - Dropped' by becky Totally Agree! And Pawson? He was the idiot who advised Friend to take a second look and the idiot who doesn't appear to understand the offside rule. He should be dropped for at least two PL rounds.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Kevin Friend - Dropped' by becky Penalties to Friend is no use to us. We were robbed of at least a point by the officiating muppets.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Kevin Friend - Dropped' by becky Quietly done for the sake of form with no changes to the table or title race which is all prem plc care about. We are but disposables in this game.
