Quick summary. Ayew push in the back in the first half was a penalty but not given. Big Ben's miss was really bad. Hughes looked keen. Zaha was often sharp. Gallagher was everywhere. Mitchell was on it too. Had I been a Leeds' supporter I reckon I a win was deserved. But I am not and I think a draw would have been right. But it was a handball and a pen. It is a bugger but football is like that. Let's move on to OT. Palace do better against the better teams...... sometimes!!!
Always remembering walking from the Holmesdale to the Whitehorse end at half time! |

Very harsh to lose that one after 92 mins of hard work. It was a penalty but we certainly deserved a point at least. Great to see all players working hard for the cause and our fortunes IMO will change so things start to go for us.

We are missing Macarthur and feel Hughes needs a chance now from the start to show what he can do. Schlupp had brief moments but the game passed him by. Gallagher looks tired because he is having to cover more ground now Jimmy is out. Benteke misses another chance that was easier to score. Sadly Edouard did not really step up tonight either. No need to panic as squad depth is there and the change in style is still bedding in. Also teams now more aware of our new style so need to know how to adjust things when teams work us out. Both Villa and Leeds controlled the game and we were left to moments rather than being on the front foot. Will take this season to settle in, and certainly not worried about going down, but I think our good run maybe set our sights a little high.. I agree with pretty much all of that. Schlupp was anonymous and Hughes was a lot better when he came on, which I thought was a real positive. If he's fit enough then should start alongside CG and Kouyate. Edouard was very disappointing and Benteke was exactly what was needed to change the game. When we dominate possession and ping balls to feet in the box, then no doubt Edouard has a much better radar for goal, but when you can't get out of your own half and need someone to win it in the air or hold it up, Benteke is far better and showed it tonight. How he missed only he will know.

Very poor we were slow on the ball and off the ball nobody really showed the desire that wins you 3 points against a determined experienced team

On way home. Gutted. Didn’t deserve to lose. Should have been 2-0 up. We couldn’t see the handball but from the radio sounds like it was harsh. Penalty every day of the week, I’m afraid

I agree Gallagher looked tired. He has been a hero but we need to take a bit of the grunt work off his shoulders and with McArthur out this is when Hughes needs to start.
The beatings will stop when morale improves. |

Unlucky to give away a point. Deffo handball but still unlucky.

Good enough to stay up this season - but nothing more. A bit like the previous 6 or 7 seasons. Just all a bit bland.

Agree - bad miss from Benteke. But how much more threatening did we look with him on the pitch? Think we just have to accept the occasional missed sitter for the superior all round performance and goals he does deliver. Wilf looked good again in the second half. Conor tired.
