People saying he’s a young Glenn Murray no way For the sake of the club I think that you should contact Dougie Freedman and tell him that he's wasting his time with this duff striker

I think the suggestion that any striker who scored 30 championship goals is auto ready for premier league is ridiculous cos we all know that’s not true proven time and time again to not be necessarily true...then the (well compiled) list of goals was hardly awe-inspiring..I think the suggestion that he’s a natural finisher and benteke isn’t is ludicrous benteke has 80 odd premier league goals,16 international goals in 40 appearances and if you watched a highlight reel there would be a clear difference in the quality of strikes..the only reason people would think benteke is not a natural finisher is he lost his confidence for a long time and was afraid to strike the ball..who can say that wouldn’t happen to this fella if the standard of defending and goalkeeping is better than he’s used to... Sorry for objecting to something but t’s just my observations I haven’t seen anything to make me say wow 🤩 pretty much every other player we’ve been linked with has the x factor but this one just doesn’t do it for me

Scoring regularly is partly about being in the right place for opportunities, Lineker for example was all about that....he had no significant speed or outstanding skills. Positioning and timing are massively unrated instincts by most fans who are more impressed by step overs. The kind of striker who can make goals out of nothing is beyond the budget of a club like ours. Unless he comes out of the academy like Zaha that player isn't going to be purchasable. However, that doesn't mean that Armstrong is the right striker for our set up. He could be but I profess no knowledge of the player and it's going to be all down to scouting and judgement by our professionals. Edited by Stirlingsays (07 Aug 2021 8.38am)

He certainly wouldn't be the first Armstrong to do well for Palace.

I can't profess to know much about AA, but he is supposedly quick, a hard worker, and has good positioning. He's also scored almost 50 goals across the last two seasons in a competitive league. He would at least be an alternative option to Tekkers. I'm onboard with this.

I dont really care how pretty or how much wow factor the goal has, just the fact it is a goal for us is what matters. If we get the guy, and he scores just 15 not pretty goals for us, that will be very good. Based on last season which would equate to 37% of the total number of goals we scored in Prem league.

However, let's not get carried away. Mitrovic was top scorer in the Championship in 2019/20 with a similar number of goals to Armstrong; he couldn't hit a barn door last year in the PL. and, of course, the less said about Brewster, the better. It's a question of confidence. Ivan Toney has it in spades bordering on arrogance. Will be interesting to see how confident he is in a PL team (whichever he turns up at). As with the majority of transfers, there is a risk attached and the player may not deliver what is hoped or expected. Armstrong could turn out to be another Maupay, it's entirely possible. Or he could score 15 goals and make a significant difference. We have to be realistic given the budget we have available. We can't afford the likes of Tammy Abraham who has a track record in the Premier League. So it's understandable that we should be looking at the likes of Armstrong. Young, hungry and with something to prove...these are the qualities that the club are looking for right now.

We got some very good youngsters coming through up front. Raki yaki. Jacob Montez in Belgium, Omilabu, Street. They should all be coming through this season. Things are moving so fast at Palace now. Happy with our structure now. Very happy with whoever is putting up the cash.
