Last year 7 stabbings and 1 death. The police said it was a largely peaceful event.

Imagine 7 stabbings at Millwall or your local shopping centre we wouldn't hear the end of it.

A piece of someone here, a piece of someone there.

It's a bit like the death of horses at the Grand National - inherent part of the race.

Under-reporting of criminal acts, perhaps. ?
But also high levels of CCTV surveillance this year and around 12,500 officer shifts will be used to police the carnival.
And still there's nasty stuff happens there. Just don't report it.

I disengage, I turn the page.

Not just under reporting, plenty of noise from the police ranks that they are told not to arrest someone unless they have to. I mean we wouldn't want to upset anyone would we.

I struggle at times with why so many on the Right get het up about the NHC.

Not your cup of tea? Don't go. Don't engage. Have nothing to do with it. Whether we like it or not, it is an event now that is part of wider London folklore.

I get all of the disgust at the double standards and so on, and shake my own head, but I know where it is, when it is, and who is going to attend so I swerve it. Go to village fetes. Or festivals. Or any of the other 101 other things going on that are of our native culture.

Let these people have their 'festival'. With gutters running with piss and the blood of stab victims. Celebrate what is ours, let them celebrate what is theirs.

As well as not caring for most of the music played now (harrumph youngsters don't know a good tune, etc) it became too crowded for me; it's claimed two million people go, so a million a day in what is a fairly small area. One year I got stuck by Ladbroke Grove and literally couldn't move for a couple of hours which was no fun and quite frightening for the children who were there.

There are mounted police and safe exits this year, it has become a victim of its own popularity.

A crush has always looked likely, hopefully this year will pass off safely.

Everybody likes a party especially when someone else (taxpayer) is paying for it.

Let''s see how popular it is if they move it to a safe enclosed area and charge an entrance fee.

my vote would go to Wembley, Stamford Bridge & Arsenal stadia, 50 quid entry fee.

Plus all the LGBT Caribbean culture at the Amex Stadium. Sadiq can lay on free transport.
