He's a different type of player from Mateta/Benteke.

So if PV wants to move away from the big lump up top scenario then Nketiah could make sense.

Arsenal are currently all over the place it would seem. You could either make a case for that affecting his performance or see it as him not taking an opportunity to stake a first team place.

I think he's worth a punt if the price is right. And that's probably where any deal is going to fall down unless Arsenal are realistic in their valuation.

The problem is, he doesn’t want to come here. We agreed a fee with Arsenal in the summer, but he turned us down.

Move on to someone, who doesn’t have an inflated opinion of themself.

And while we dilly dally Brighton pick him up at a price reflecting one buyer and one eager seller.

I suspect the latter assumption may not apply. Does a club cup tie a player, risk injury in the transfer window and pick him to lead the line in a televised senior game if they wanted to offload him?

We have dodged a lot of bullets by dilly dallying. I can think of 3 or 4 similar young players we were linked with and who subsequently went elsewhere only to turn out to be total turkeys.

I think the problem is the players wage demands rather than Arsenals valuation.

That would be my view too. Given that the deal with Arsenal was supposedly done last week and Mateta was on his way to St Etienne post-haste, only for the Mateta departure suddenly to be put on hold an issue with Nketiah rather than his club, would seem a reasonable assumption. One possibility might be that since Nketiah has featured prominently in Arsenal's Carabao cup run, Nketiah may be stalling so he can play in the two semis against LIverpool this week and next. If so, what happens if Arsenal were to make the final, who knows?

Well if he doesn't want to come then he won't !

As for wages, he may have been advised to have a rethink, who knows ?

Ultimately, the deal has to be right for both parties. If we don't sign him I won't be losing any sleep.

From what I've seen of him he has ability, pace and his age is a big factor depending upon the fee. All things being reasonable personally I'd be interested in getting him.

The Viera connection and London location could play a decisive part in what happens.

That may be a perceptive point.

I think Veira wants a fast on the deck final third style and while I rate Benteke's link up play that style isn't really his strength....and Materta most definitely not.

I haven’t seen a lot of this guy but what I have seen doesn’t get me overly excited. There’s a highlights clip of him on YouTube which if not flattering. It includes him missing and jamming shots into the ground. Many of the highlights are him just simply passing the ball. Worrying!!
I hope I’m wrong but if we must proceed don’t get dicked into over paying.

I thought his contract expires soon so can't be too much of a fee. He would not renew.

Because of Vieira's Arsenal connections I would like to think he would have some insight on what Nketiah could bring to Palace beyond the splattering of PL and cup appearances he has made. If he works hard in a team like ours he'll get chances and then it's just a case of if he can take them. It might just be he needs a run of games to get his confidence and match sharpness up.

Mateta looks like he's trying hard, but like Bentenke he doesn't appear built for the high press. Nketiah has the pace and mobility to put pressure on defenders, the question is his finishing. In the summer I was very much in favour of Edouard, but this time there is less pressure to find a goal scorer and so if the fee is fair and his wage demands aren't silly then I think it could prove to be a good investment. If it isn't we loan him out to a Championship club in the summer.

The issues appear to be personal terms and personal inclination.

As said, if he does not want to come, then so be it.

Why is Eduoard playing the Number 9 role, he is a goal scorer, player every game at Celtic there
