we don't need the third kit to take on any of the teams in the prem - any side with red or blue we play in yellow, and any sides with yellow/orange we play in our stripes. We need to play clubs that have red OR blue AND yellow in their kit - so unless we play Partick Thistle, Shrewsbury Town or Bradford City (maybe Luton and Oxford) we won't need to revert to our 1861 kit - but I'm sure we'll see it even if we don't need it, marketing innit.

Not strange, there's just technically no such thing as home and away kits, you'll have your first kit then your second kit that you play in if the colours clash, home team decides so you're only going to use your alternative kit if you're away. Chelsea always play in blue against Liverpool, utd, arsenal regardless of where it is, derbys especially Liverpool vs Everton, rangers celtic, Madrid barca they would always play in their 1st kit. Edited by rikz (27 Jul 2021 12.27am) I know that you only change if there’s a clash. You could try arguing they aren’t home or away kits to the millions of football fans. It is an away kit because you never wear it at home. Anyway, pointless argument. We agree on the rules.

There are several arguments here. It is possible to acknowledge that the original Crystal Palace club only has a tenuous link to the current one, but does share the name and the area. The more important question is whether one actually likes the shirt.

We will not play a competitive fixture in it.

fascinating excellent historical knowledge thanks Originally posted by Penge Eagle
There are two clubs: Crystal Palace 1861-76 and Crystal Palace 1905 to present day. Every football historian acknowledges this. The reason why Palace won't change the date on the badge is because it would be rejected by the FA. The affiliation with the FA stopped in 1876 when the team disbanded. People are very enthusiatic about it in Argentina... Palace just gained a lot of new supporters. I'm sure Jules Speroni would approve !!!
Mine's a light and bitter. |
