He was given opportunities but after missing a last minute chance to equalise against Spurs in November 2018 there were howls and catcalls about him from virtually everyone on this board. Personally I thought he never looked remotely like a Premier League player.

From December 18 we went on a good run of games and climbed the table without him. Batshuayi was brought in on loan at the end of January 19.

In the meantime AS failed to deliver against Grimsby in the cup.

Good luck to him but there is a lot of amnesia regarding how poor he was and why he had so few opportunities after.

This^^^, yes he’s done well in a sub standard Turkish league and maybe the deal was to the other clubs advantage now he has shown he can play at this level.

While he was at Palace he showed all the class of Sonogaols and other dire signings we made. All this bs that Barca will pay 30 mill for him is just that bs .

The lad found his level which is not pl standard and good luck to him, at least we may recoup 6mill plus the loan cost, on the other hand another years loan and he’s back ..

The team who won the league last season in the Turkish league were regularly getting crowds of under 2000. Based on that Sorloth would probably struggle to score goals in League 2.

Probably a decision even Pardew regrets and we haven't really found a replacement since.

What I want to know is how can the club he plays for afford to buy him if they are subject to FFP breach and a Europe ban? Can they afford the 6m clause with loss of income after the 2 year loan?

FFP doesn't really mean anything you can be a billionaire and breach it which has happened with many clubs its a system to hold little teams down.

Players buy the contract out not clubs it's just the fees end up being passed back to players via signing on fee etc so with this loan club he is at lets say they dont have money well another club that wants to buy him can pay for him its all very shady.

Yep, if he went to a big team then he would be emergency injury replacement only. Can you see him spearheading a top 4 team in any of the major leagues.......... er no.

In all fairness, he was better than Sanogo - Benteke is too. That was our worst ever striker. Made Aylott look mercurial. Sorloth wasn't good for us but also wasn't massively bad, particularly in comparison to Benteke. I suspect he would have scored more goals than Benteke but frankly so would Pierrick, Gayle, Murray and [pick any striker in the league and in the conference and insert name here].

Palace have no power here the only thing they can get is that buy out clause money nothing else so if some one else wants him now its doesn't matter it's nothing to do with them.

A lot of people get confused with how it used to be in the old days the modern system is completely different.

If he was a Palace player as such we can bring him back but we can't he has a deal with another club so we need to wait for that to expire which is no good anyway reports state his contract expires that same year loan deal ends.

easiest way to look at it is the same as a release clause you hit it the parent cant do anything thing the player has released himself this is same with the loan so palace has no say because they put that release number in.

wrong - might as well be as arrogant as you!

Palace extended his contract by a year before he left on loan to ensure he still had value at the end of the loan if the buyout is not activated.

Whilst the loan has no release clause the buyout is only activate after year 2 if he plays x amount of games in year 2.

As i said if an offer came in for him now, after year 1, it would be complicated and both clubs would need to reach a compromise.

To state he is not a Palace player today is plainly inaccurate.

Spot on!

The miss against Tottenham was shocking, the performance against Grimsby equally so!

He was poor, not even remotely PL standard and 20 goals in a Turkish league the equivalent to EFL Division 1 doesn’t suddenly change that.

Reports he is having transfer talks with Leipzig, how does that work out ? He is still our player . So surely it’s Palace due a fee if this is true and happens. Does anyone know what the actual situation with him is regarding this .

I believe this to be correct. An interesting scenario emerging, if Leipzig agree terms and want to buy, technically he is a Palace player but Trabanzor can buy. Can Palace scupper any deal at this stage? Can we negotiate the fee and a %? Personally I think we probably can.
Another reason why loan deal was agreed by a f***wit
