It was then he started to look for military diversions to unrest at home and he started to pursue his long term ambition of restoring Russia's "place in the world". The idea that we ought to have been conciliatory and placated these ambitions is risible. Any show like that would have been seen as weakness and made things worse. Putin enabled the oligarchs? Man, you talk such crap. The only oligarchs who survived intact from Putin were those that did what they were told. As for your ideas on the west's policy post 1991....well, let's just say that I have zero doubt that if you'd been in charge the outcome would have been little different. (The FSB is basically the former KGB.) (Beseda is a very high-ranking spy, his rank the equivalent of a U.S. 4-star general, Bolyukh a 3-star.) That's a fascinating post, cheers.

Here's one everyone in Ireland conveniently forgot. [Link] Such truth. Liam Lawlor was the sole politician convicted of corruption out of the whole lot. They were all at it. It wasn't hidden at all. Luckily all the newspapers and TV channels forgot too. A bit like Yesterday but with no happy ending.

Would be fascinating to be behind the scenes..

If you read Stirling's post, the errors went back to 1991 not 2014. By Crimea, the damage was done and the die set.

A very enjoyable conspiracy theory that may well be at least part true.

As with Georgia, there will always be a weak reasoning and justification for invasion, used as an excuse for 'special operations'. Some will buy it, most won't, and no amount of appeasement will derail such aspirations longterm.

Edited by Stirlingsays (22 Mar 2022 3.31pm) Such crap that this piece even uses the same terms as me. "Enable". Read it. It might just enable you to see why you are wrong. Putin enables the oligarchs. That he does it because it suits his purposes doesn't change that. He uses everyone.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |
