They come in and offer 10k more a week? Times 53 weeks in a year, that's 0.53 million. In 4 years of contract it's 2 million. Miss out on a player for 2 million?? Get in there and negociate!! Offer the same as West Ham, even offer 70k a week. You can't just miss out on a player for 2-4 million! That's just being cheap. None of us know the details and we never will. He chose West Ham over us. End of discussion. Move on. Edited by EddieMac (31 Jan 2020 11.26am)

Complete speculation, only a very limited few will know the details of what has happened or in fact what is still happening. It’s pointless making stuff up for the sake of it.....plus I hate to break it to you but there are 52 weeks in a year, not 53....so only 0.52 million more per year

He normally manages to squeeze an extra weeks work out of me somehow!

Not necessarily - he might have preferred West Ham. Mght have, yes, but when your next option is Jordon Ibe you owe it to your fans and your club's future to make him "forget West Ham". And if that takes 2-4 extra million, you have to try and get it done. Seems like Palace decision makers like Roy and the others have an attitude of "You know what- this is our budget, this is what we can offer you. Anything above this is dangerous for the club, so we explore other options. Take it or leave it!". You know what's dangerous for the club? Getting Jordon Ibe!! This will mean half the goals Bowen could have contributed to and a big chance of relegation after Zaha leaves. Sure, if they had gone for other players from Europe who are great wingers, I'd have understood whay they don't go past a certain financial level. But giving up on Bowen just because West Ham gives him 60k a week....what's 60k these days? Give him 100k and he won't "prefer West Ham". Or do as they do...get Jordon Ibe an lose 100 million form going down to the Championship in another 5 years. Edited by mattteo (31 Jan 2020 12.10pm)

I will laugh HARD if they get relegated, mind Agree with that 100%. Especially the relegation bit.

He's clearly a talented lad who just couldn't find his way at Bournemouth, but a new scenery and you never know. Think of some of the players in the Prem at the minute who were useless and then something clicked. Perez at Leicester was shocking for Newcastle in the main. Ings wasn't doing anything for Liverpool, how about our lot like Tomkins, Kouyate, Van Anhollt? I think our policy has to be patience. If we stick Bowen on 100k all of a sudden the whole squad will demand it and you're losing millions more a year. Sign the castoffs, some will work and some won't, but at least we won't run the risk of doing a Bolton/Charlton etc.
If punk ever happened I'd be preaching the law, instead of listenin to Lydon lecture BBC4 |
