That was one of the least enjoyable games I have seen Palace play when we have actually won the game. The first half was awful and as the 2nd half progressed I was convinced Huddersfield would nick a goal and see us slump to another home defeat. It wasn't until PvA buried the second goal that I was able to relax and enjoy it ( all of 6 minutes). Yet MOTD made it look like a festival! I think because of our situation we are ruining the enjoyment, football is made up entirely of not very interesting moments dotted with very exciting ones, we sadly fail in converting enough of our exciting moments ..if Batshuayi had taken his wonderful chance in the first half then this game would have been just a good result against weak oppo. when we beat teams away the home fans feel exactly like we do.

If you watch him, he stands offside all the time. Bizarre really. VAR may have said otherwise.

Didn't want to post straight after the game. However I still feel today's game was one of the worst I have seen of us. It looked as though the players thought they could just turn up and beat them, and such a slack attitude produced that dire performance. We struggled again because some of our players cannot pass ten feet to another, not Roy's fault that funnily enough but three players in particular have been doing it for well too long and getting away with it because the bench is awful ..again not Roy's fault.

Yep, but he could improve like Sterling if he gets into a top 6 side but would need work on his finishing. However he would be a good supplier in say a team like the Arse where they have no winger of his ability. Infact that team is crying out for some width. Could easily follow another legend Wrighty. Edited by Booted Eagle (30 Mar 2019 6.07pm) His end product excites nobody but us.

Just wondering why it always takes a piss poor first half to pass before this team actually start to get its act together. Tactics? Motivation? Complacency? Edited by southnorwoodhill (31 Mar 2019 10.22am)

The quality of football yesterday was more Isthmian League than Premier league. We need to back to basic. Roy needs to get 'em in a circle on Monday and explain that the white round thing he is holding up is called a football...

"ball, you kick ball in goal geddit: Player "Sure boss I understand actually I speak very good English. Manager "I know that I wasn't talking to you it was to the rest of them".

Edited by southnorwoodhill (31 Mar 2019 10.22am) Watched all or nothing a while ago and the way pep sends his team out, focused, wound up and raring to get 'up and at em' from the start, is a masterclass in motivation. You have to wonder what Roy's pre match team talk is like because for way to long, our first half performances have been awful.

Edited by southnorwoodhill (31 Mar 2019 10.22am) Think it was down to Huddersfield's tactics. Having Prichard stick to Luca like glue and a high pressing line meant we couldn't get the ball out. We seem to lack players with the intelligence/freedom to change things on the pitch. Guiata in particular got a lot of stick, but he just didn't have an outlet. Credit to Roy, he did change things at half time. Mayer's first touch and ability to look for space is the best we've had since Cabaye left but admittedtly his tackling is poor. I still can't work out how Schlupp gets on the pitch. He is a passenger in games. Is it extra protection for PVA? Could we play Reidewald or Mayer there? The like for like Striker substitution seemed strange again. In the end we were lucky that Huddersfield gave away a clumsy penalty. Ultimately, that stopped the result going the way the Cardiff and Newcastle games went. Good to see a well worked goal from open play. Hopefully, it will help the team build a bit of confidence. PVA certainly looked relieved. Edited by jeeagles (31 Mar 2019 1.16pm)

Scott Dann had a shocker trying to pass out from the back yesterday. Guaita was getting stick for his distribution?

To me it appeared he realised there was an issue and was trying to get the players to push further forward and play longer. To Huddersfield's credit, their game plan was to pressure Dann, Tompkins, and Luca, which worked well.

Kept us level in that poor first half when the defence like against the Weed looked shaky. Missing the Beast back there to bring the ball out when needed, even tho he has a gaff in him occasionally.
