BBC quoting £2.5m as the fee on their website. Same amount we paid for Ayew isn’t it?

the BBC upped it to £3 million

sounds more reasonable given the gamble on his long term fitness, one year left on his contract and no doubt still decent wages

[Link]

the £8m was total rubbish, the same as most stuff spouted on the media - and obviously not much of a balancing figure to the £20m shortfall on Wilf's asking price

Not unhappy with this signing, he will probably be 3rd or 4th choice to begin with but once he is 100% he could be 2nd or 3rd. Everton fans loved him before his injury, he has a proper footballing heart, the one thing that's required for our midfield...

Not unhappy either, especially if the fee is £3 million.

I look at it from the perspective that we have lost midfielders Mutch, Williams and Puncheon from the squad as at last August, and are now replacing them with McCarthy and (hopefully) Camarasa. From that perspective, I believe the midfield is stronger. Add to that the constant chatter about Riedewald's departure, Luka's contract, McArthur's shortcomings, a lack of strength in depth and a lack of creativity in midfield - these two signings provide additional options and cover (provided of course that McCarthy can stay fit) and hopefully beef up our creativity with Camarasa.

Still need a RB, striker and possibly a LB too.

If this is instead of Camarasa then it's a big disappointment and in an area of the team where we already have 3 very similar players.

3-4 years ago I would have been over the moon with this.

Someone has clearly told Dougie at some point in his life that it's important to have a strong spine of the team, so he's decided to just buy as many keepers, centre backs and central midfielders in the hope that when he's questioned he can just say 'oooch ayye, but we've gotta nae strong spine laddy!'

Everton must be relived to have got him off their payroll and £3m in the bin as well. How anyone can say this a signing to celebrate must be off their rocker. The guy hasn’t played for a season!

Not a bad signing but still not in the areas we are desperately short of. If we do sign a good RB and striker then I guess we can say it was a good window. Big if at the moment.

I don't know who dazza knows or how accurate his information is but he did say that there would be a couple of squad players added before the window closed

If this is a 3M signing, I feel much better about it. Still a waste of money IMO as we should have invested in youth without injury baggage.

£3M makes this a little more understandable but I just still don't get it ?

I can only think perhaps we won't secure a striker and Roy is looking to play 4 CM's with Wilf & Andros up top.

If the current expected deals go through, we'll have the following all fighting for 3/4 places :

Luka
McArthur
Kouyate
Camarasa
Meyer
Schlupp
McCarthy
Reidewald

I know that gives us depth but we need another winger, right back, striker and possibly left back.

Just seems odd.
