You're on to a hiding for nothing in games like this. For example, see Morata not celebrating either of his goals for Chelsea v Notts Forest. We won and that's all that matters. Dann looked solid and Kelly played well. Zaha and Townsend overdid it and seemed to be trying to win it on their own.

At the end of the day our league form coming into this game was really good, it's not like some seasons where we really needed a performance to pick us up. Great for Ayew to get another goal. Those being negative need to put this game in context with the wins over Wolves, Leicester and Man City.

I understand people being annoyed we didn't score more, but for me the result was never in doubt as we were so dominant and it just felt like luck couldn't only keep Grimsby in it for so long. Thankfully we don't have to go to a replay and we move on. It looks like Roy may be taking the cup seriously.

I am guessing that Roy had something to do with Sorloth's recruitment.

Yes, it was a poor show, goalwise from us

Yes, we should have roundly beaten 10 men from Div 2,

but you know what?

I actually thoroughly enjoyed that good, old fashioned, end-to-end cup game against gung-ho, backs-to-the-wall opposition.

It's just so very Palace!

Well done Palace against a determined 10 man Grimsby who came with terrific support.
Difficult game but we won and were able to give game time to some squad players.
Solid back 4 with a clean sheet.
Ayew again .... what can this mean ?

We move in the direction of our thoughts.
Just think a little.

Another display of unspeakably bad finishing especially by Soerloth who must surely now be finished here.

Nearly got taken to a replay when playing a ten-man league two side at home. Absolutely appalling and we could have had no complaints if they had knocked us out. And those were senior forwards FFS.

Still at least we didn't do anything too stupid at the back.

One team was trying to score and one team was wasn't.

Schlupp's pass in to Ayew for the winner was quality. He has more composure around the net than many of our players.

Andros needs to hit the target more. Their keeper was so bad any shot on goal would likely give up an easy rebound. Instead, we kicked it wide and over the bar 25 times.

Sorloth and Wickham were equally invisible.

Wilf was poor, too much of trying to beat 3-4 defenders, and always just ended up giving the ball away.

Brutal game, but at least it's a win. Glad to see Ayew score again. I'd keep riding him, since god knows we have no one else who likes they can score a goal.

We need no new players.

I think it means he’s better than Sorloth. But then who isn’t?

I'm beginning to think that the real judge of a player during his stay was possibly someone else......Maybe it was Popovic who was the guy with the eye.

Maybe we need Popovic choosing transfer targets.

Your right he did make some great signings when he was manager. But that was when we had no money and were struggling to stay afloat ... perhaps it was the Scottish in him ...being good at finding a bargain. Now we do have money (and everybody knows it ) he/we seem incapable of making a decent transfer.
