In reality I don’t think it really matters who the partnership is against Man City as that is a game that we will lose I think we all agree. All about getting a win against Cardiff now I would play our ‘cup team’ against Man City to ensure that the 1st XI is fit to go all out in the ensuing two home games. S0d the inevitable whingers i.e. Liverpool and Spurs. They have no qualms about fielding weakened teams when it suits their purpose.

As long as the goal difference doesn’t take too much of a tonking then it would be good to rest some and re acclimatise some others

Keeper and Kelly deserve to start against City. Kelly always impresses at centre back when selected. Tompkins has been poor in last two away matches and should wait to get back in. Agree that on past form he is the best pairing with Sakho but not in those last two away games?

Look we played Chelsea, Arsenal, Man U and Spurs in consecutive games and acquitted ourselves very well - we really unlucky to just come out with 2 points from that run. We should have beaten City at home last season if Milo hadn't missed his pen. We play our best side and give them a game - then who knows - it's Christmas the season of perpetual hope they've got to lose at the Etihad at some point why not against us? Just to hang out the white flag doesn't sit well with me..!! COYP

Secondly Hodgson would never do that in a million years. Thirdly goal difference has a habit of being a factor when you are in a relegation scrap. Last but not least we will be on a high after Leicester so we don’t want to get annihilated, if we can help it.

Arsenal had central defenders missing,Koscielny looked rusty after just returning from a lay-off and defensively they were found wanting from crosses. The keeper Leno made a hash with their third goal, first running out as Long bore down on goal and he was out of position when he went for the cross which he missed and Austin headed home.If that was Hennessey he would be crucified on HOL ! Arrived in England with a reputation for being comfortable with the ball at his feet but seems to struggle when the ball is in the air. Edited by Willo (16 Dec 2018 3.51pm)

Firstly, I don’t know how you define a habit, but the last team to be relegated from the Prem on goal difference was Reading in 2008. Secondly ‘we’ may be on a high, but will the team be? Like they were on a high after beating Burnley, for example. Edited by YT (16 Dec 2018 4.05pm)

Anyone know Kouyate’s injury situation. He was my man of the match yesterday before he went off. He was one of the main reasons we managed to win ugly. Also a big shout to Martin Kelly who was excellent considering his lack of first team football. I know our squad depth is heavily criticised but in Kelly we have an excellent reserve in waiting. With City and Chelsea coming up the Cardiff game will be massive for us.
