That really is a tired and trite excuse that needs to be consigned to the knackers yard. The only club in the PL who ever uses that as it's reason for lack of transfer activity. We're in our sixth season in the PL and have done FA in that time to increase our revenue stream (if that really is the problem). Instead of devising a realistic plan for increasing capacity we've come up with some fantastical scheme that, it's rapidly becoming obvious, is never going to happen. Other clubs manage to improve their infrastructure whilst in the Championship (and below), yet we can't manage it after six years of PL megabucks. A long hard look needs to be taken at exactly how the finances of the club are managed.

You are of course absolutely correct in your above assessment but you cannot deny the numbers. Its something like £0.83p of every £1.00 received as income goes on player salaries. We are screwed. Theres only one way of injecting cash into the club and his surname begins with Z.

Well then questions do need to be answered.Having money but not being able to spend it is one thing. Being a 6th season premier league club and being totally broke is an entirely different proposition. How can this be the case with our owners?!

Because we have no long-term plan, instead we spend big as we lurch from disaster to disaster and fail to create a deep and well-rounded squad. We're tossing out 55K p/w to the likes of Schlupp and Riedewald, whom nobody will take off our hands.

Our failure to sort out the striker position isn't through a lack of money invested - we're paying around 300K p/w for our 4 strikers, having paid nearly £50 million in transfer fees - it's down to terrible scouting and transfer business. We are the experts at getting mugged off.

If one examines the accounts for 2016/17 one will see that the wage bill was nigh on £112 Mill which was the 9th highest in the PL and 6 times greater than it was in 2013.

Which then brings us back to even if we had that cash injection, would you trust the current decision makers to use it effectively ? I wouldn't.

So the board are trying to improve the squad with quality? Our first eleven will give anyone including the top 6 a good game, our bench should be improved but bringing in the likes of Ayew, Kouyate and Guita were supposed to do just that - Ayew is pants but we all thought 'decent signing' when he came in.

After a great performance against Burnley, we came up against an in-form Brighton side who rarely concede and have a striker in Murray that will score 15+ goals this season - no suprise on the result, on another day we could have done better but this is the premier league and if you don't show up you get beat.

We lost to a better side on the day, we move on to West Ham. This constant blame game after a poor performance is getting so boring.

With respect, prior to playing us, Brighton had only won 1 of their previous 4 games and that was against 10 man Huddersfield and they have only kept 3 clean sheets in 16 games this season.

Agreed to an extent that on the day our first eleven will be competitive. We played well against Arsenal, Spurs, Man Utd and for an hour - against Chelsea. Total return - 2 points.

But it's against the likes of Burnley, Southampton and Brighton where we should be mining our points, and so a performance and a result such as Tuesday night's is always going to provoke a reaction. 0-3 down at half time to 10 men, and no changes from the bench because there's nobody on it to make a difference. 1 decent performance in 3 against that group is not good enough.

Let's not forget recent history as well - a year ago we had no recognised central striker. Our back up goalkeeper at one point was a player that had made a handful of appearances at League 1 level. And that's in our 5th year of being a Premier League club.

We have the 9th highest wage bill which we are servicing on a restricted income. The squad is liberally sprinkled with players that simply aren't good enough at this level.

I don't have confidence in the infrastructure of the club from the CEO down to the Head of Catering.

There seems to be nobody capable of stepping back and planning for anything other than the short term.

Correct me if I'm wrong but they've also only lost once at home, losing 2-1 to Spurs but still the only player i'd take from their squad for our first team is Murray.

I feel we're on the right track with Roy and hopefully he gets to buy a few of his own players in this window.

Sorloth is reputed to be one of Roy's buys

I think as we've done before, us fans are going to have to play a massive part in getting the club out of this in the 2nd half of the season
