Will be interesting if Sadiq freezes tube fares again as his manifesto (and eventual likely victory next year). My brother-in-law works for TFL and said they would be close to going bust as they are severely stretched right now.

But to be honest....I find it hard to be annoyed with examples of overpaid working class type jobs when the wages drawn by some of our better classes is enough to qualify as a societal kick in the balls on far larger scales.

It depends... Getting pay rises through extortion – ie threatening to ground a major city's Tube network to a halt – is pretty immoral.

Sure it is....they are unionised and over powered via expedient political decisions in the past and they know it....So every decision is designed to feather and further their own nest for as long as possible. I just find it hard to get that annoyed by it within a system where higher professions corrupt systems and feather nests and likewise regard it as their right.....but because the tube workers are involved with physical infrastructure many people get to see their particular 'protected' job out front and centre. They are just doing what many others are doing.....or would take advantage of if they were in the same position. But yeah...it's not on and at some point some hard arse is going to have to bite the bullet. Edited by Stirlingsays (08 Jul 2019 9.02pm)

Immoral is doing nothing other than making laws that advantage you and your friends at the expense of those who truly generate the countries wealth. Tube drivers shouldn't be blamed for standing-up for themselves by those who haven't.............for what is it now, 30+yrs?

Just like the working class folk in the Mafia who also "stood up for themselves" through the use of extortion. One is legal, both are immoral. No politician today would dream of taking down the bully-boy unions. Edited by Penge Eagle (08 Jul 2019 10.17pm)

Composing a tweet about Trump right now. Then he will tweet about his sympathy for the latest knife victims. What a twit.

It was a very Naive promise, central government have pulled a £700m grant and Crossrail is £500m over budget. There was a predicted rise in ticket revenue but in reality they have fallen. To counter this he’s accelerated the ULEZ and cut back on all surface transportation schemes. This will leave a maintenance deficit for future majors to pick up.
