He looked the business today. Absolute class. Controlled everything, kept the ball, sent men running forward and had a few pretty good shots as well. Unlucky not to score. Looks like a natural creative player, more so than say Cabaye, and adds more than a veneer of class and precision to our play.

I thought he scored. No??

He will be the difference between us and Brighton on Tuesday night. Get him on the ball near the box and we will cash in...

If he strengthens up a bit more (nice to see him make a full-blooded challenge towards the end) we are looking at a very special player.

Turns on a sixpence off either foot which is the sign of a well balanced player. Great vision and weight of pass. Defensively he is average at best and needs to up his game a bit in that respect but when Milivojevic and Kouyate are on the pitch his defensive duties are reduced.

His favourite position we are told is left midfield cutting in and supporting the strikers. I think we saw the best of that yesterday, it was an impressive performance and he was my man of the match although Kouyate and a few others ran him close in that respect.

We effectively played with 4 attacking midfielders yesterday but importantly kept width in our play for the entire match. It stretched Burnley’s pedestrian defence to breaking point. We won’t be playing defences like that every week unfortunately but if we stick to that style of play we will cause problems for every team.

Meyer has earned his starting spot and unless we are playing a game where we want to shut up shop I now think he will start every match. Well played Max!

That’s my thinking. It’s a shame we don’t have a striker to slide balls through for, but their defenders aren’t suited to him or the way we’re playing. They’re all guys and thunder and we’re playing with more style and sophistication and 4 tough players at CB and def makes d areas. I hope I haven’t jinxed us. We’re on the up so a good time to face them in their subbetteo stadium.

I thought he came good yesterday. So far he hasn't had Cabaye's vision in opening up defences with his passes, but yesterday his short-range passing was spot on, and so was his positioning. He seemed to be more confident too, including two great strikes which came so close to scoring for us. Looking forward to seeing if he can match this on Tuesday.

He also knows what he's going to do with the ball before he receives it.

One with his right foot and one with his left so he is not afraid to 'pull the trigger' with his weaker foot.Played really well and he will have gained a great deal of confidence from his performance.Well done to the 'German Messi' !

Went in directly from McArthur. Meyer didn't touch it but he did confuse Hart enough that he couldn't get anywhere near it.

What a player we have here boys. The hype was fully justified, he is wonderful. Both feet excellent and shifts it onto both like silk, his confident and vision when passing now coming through, his positioning always good and allowed us to have an option in ththe half space where we can break teams down, press resistant, shooting much better finally, even the defensive stuff was better. Me and the bloke next to me were gushing over him. Let him have the freedom to roam with players around him making the right runs into space and he will deliver

Feeling smug tbh, I had faith in him once he started to adapt to our system and the league

Admittedly he did well against Burnley but let's not get too carried away as he was playing against a poor team and we were well on top.

I suspect that a good season at Palace and Meyer will be off somewhere that plays in Europe in the summer, therefore we will still need a replacement for Cabaye. RLC would be a good replacement.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.
