He's a tidy enough player but not hugely creative on his own. I imagine he'd shine in a team that played a more possession-based style - which makes you wonder why we signed him. A disconnect between transfer team and manager?

Thought this for a while but got the impression Sorloth was Roy ?

Agreed, Meyer made a great cross towards the end and Sorloth just trotted over, bumped into a Boro defender and gave up. With his height and strength he should have been on that with zero issues.

That was the final insult for me. Just a step or two away from goal and a jump to head it was all it needed. He did neither.

The whole game was woeful however.

Optimistic as ever

How do you think he compares to Gareth Taylor?

I'd be genuinely interested in what people think.

He was another big, blonde target man, who looked abysmal.

Although Taylor was pony, at least you could see he was trying.

Our scouting system needs a root and branch overhaul as our recruitment is abysmal. If Sørloth and Ayew are the best we can get, then we're foocked.

So poor tonight. We could still be playing now 1 hour after Middlesborough have gone home and not got the ball in the net.

He doesn't back himself or how to use any strength he might have. Andy Carroll (when off the crutches) would have found two or three of those crosses.

I ain't got nuthin' funny to say. Sorry.

The fact that our fringe players succumbed to a defeat against Middlesbrough without scoring says it all.
Disgraceful and concerning.

I never saw the game but from your account we were decidely second best.Appalling and very worrying.

A PL club with the likes of Puncheon, who started, and Williams on the bench.Says it all.

This is it, the soul or moral or whatever you want to call it seems to have gone awol.

Burton next round then a semi final... what more do you want? Roy didn't put out a strong line up on purpose, in my opinion, he was allegedly known to not make subs last season as to make a point - now our second string side were woeful. Being unlucky is one thing, so is being well beaten, but that?

Like i said and will keep saying, we need to get parish to move aside, get the club run properly as a business, a business that wants to compete.

That he is running it like a business and not a football club is the problem . We as fans would I guess all have liked a cup run . Clubs of our standing really have only the cups as a chance of actually winning something .

But what does that achieve in a business sense ? Absolutely nothing , one place higher in the premier league is financially a better place to be and why premier league clubs play their reserves in this outdated competition .

Having said that we were piss poor and got what we deserved which was nothing .Also leaves our reserves without any competitive football until January when they will be even more useless in the 3rd round of the FA cup .
