Rewriting history Dr Who style.
I despair.

--------------------------

The reason the BBC appointed a female Doctor Who was the ratings which had tumbled since David Tennant had left. If this was the USA the broadcaster would have cancelled the show. Anyway dear old Auntie went for broke hoping to attract new viewers.

Well the ratings are out and the show continues to fall. I have not seen any episodes with the new Doctor and her rainbow assistants but I stopped watching the previous doctor because it became a morality lecture. As I kid I loved Doctor Who because it was scary monsters. The BBC are forgetting their core audience.

After the Rosa parks episode I joked next week she takes on the evil Mrs Thatcher monster. Well not quite apparently the next show is all about the evil empire and I am not talking star wars.

The show will continue to fail until they realise its a kids program just throw a few daleks and cyberman at her. She may not be the problem its the stupid scripts.

PS I say these criticisms with love. I am old enough to remember William Hartnell and my cousin appeared in many episodes (he was the guy in the rubber monster suit) so it holds a soft spot for me. A pity it's now just a tick box ethics exercise.

I've probably watched every episode since it began and I well remember running from Selhurst Park on a Saturday to where I had parked my car and racing home to watch William Hartnell.

The scripting and storylines have gone downhill since the old days much as they did with each incarnation of Star Trek and problems nowadays are sorted with technobabble and a sonic screwdriver that can do everything.

The stories are now far more complicated than they used to be and the fact that CGI can make far more realistic monsters than in the old days doesn't paper over the cracks.

I used to find some of the stories and monsters quite scary way back when but nowadays I doubt whether anyone is scared

Here is a short synopsis that probably applies to every episode these days.
Dr who --lands on planet...something is wrong...talk a load incomprehensible babble...come across something bad but unfortunately these days never a plastic/rubber monster....run around everywhere talk very fast...use sonic screwdriver...save the world...the end !

I agree with the other posters...give me William Hartnell or some of the older Doctors ,black and white tv (was always scary) and daleks, cybermen and the yeti.

This current crop of shows will lead to cancellation again.

It's one man show looks very interesting. I was about to book tickets to see Dick Whittington this year but I think I'll go and see his/her/it's one person show instead and take some burgers with me to throw.

I wonder if he/she/it wants to be the next Doctor Who

Can you imagine the newsroom at the BBC... One of the journo cucks says: "Quick let's call up the girl who rolled her eyes behind that nasty far-right man Nigel Farage, would be a great story..."

'Student gets marriage offers after rolling her eyes at Farage'

Elsewhere today on the UK's No.1 tax-payer funded social justice media outlet:

'Jack White 'disappointed' after gig venue tells gay fans to stop kissing'

'Female pilots: Which airline has the highest number?'

'Rebel Wilson 'deeply sorry' for plus-sized claims'

'I pretended to be a boy called Colin so I could box'

As much it pains to be one of you lads the BBC radio coverage today was very much focussing on Dem gains.

I thought the ITV news bloke was going to w*** himself off while telling us about it.

Unbelievable bias.

I kinda look at the BBC website these days for the chuckles....even though I know they are deadly serious.
