There’s no evidence of one side being tougher and stronger than the other. It’s an ideaology we’re talking about here. Because one is steeped in old time thinking when things were tougher, it doesn’t make the other side weak. We all come from the same place. Keep it up though if that’s what gives you a leg up. Here's a nice reply to the Kipling poem university embarrassment. I heard a Kipling expert explain that the poem is subversive and was originally written as an anti government blast in response to a scandal of the day. Kipling was telling the "victim" to keep his chin up whilst digging the government out for his poor treatment. Of course the context and scandal has long disappeared from memory but we are left with a poem full of "truths". As for the idiots who covered it up. Kipling was a man of his time and certainly his views on Empire don't stack up today but that is why they should study him. It is possible to love that poem and not love the politics of the poet. An English history teacher defended the poem. He explained he was gay and had an Indian partner and that they had been given the poem by his partner's father. So before all the white middle class rush off to defend minorities maybe they might want to ask them are they offended by the poem?

In Mongolia they celebrate their empire. Yet only in the west is there this unrealistic re-reading of history that ignores how human nature works. The UK simply did what every other developed country was trying to do. No country has a history of peace.....History is the story of military conquests. If there had been no British empire this country would be pretty poor with few trading links of substance. All those middle class lefty families wouldn't have the standard of living they have. The majority of Turks and Mongolians are proud of their past empires. You are living in a kind of fantasy land. You won't find the same kind of post modernistic revisionism dominating their cultures like we find from the left here. Empires aren't built with kind language but lefty historical revisionism is an exercise in encouraging guilt for human nature. I repeat again because you appeared not to take it in. Every country did the same thing......also we raped and enslaved far less than other empires actually. Edited by Stirlingsays (21 Jul 2018 10.51am)
