Is it too much to ask to: Have 2 strikers when the season kicks off? Have 3 keepers at any time after the manager mentions it over and over? Just 1 who is actually prem standard? Not chuck the first 3-4 games every season, which is a big stride into a relegation scrap? Actually make that upnto 7 games or maybe more. If people think this is acceptable, unavoidable or smart then think again. Anyone with any football appreciation and say with the chairman wouldn't let this kind of stuff happen, and demand it doesn't before joining or walk if it does happen.

How about never making impactful signings which are desperately needed at the START of a transfer window, rather than right at the end (or not at all) thus throwing away even more points with a sub standard team during the window itself. Parish is clueless when it comes to transfers, and apparently when it comes to keeping manager's happy. Also when it comes to knowing when to fire someone. Also when it comes to hiring anyone other than a well established name that anyone could think of. He also cant seem to ever sell any of our deadwood. Hes got a nice plan for the new stadium though, so I guess its ok.

Someone who understood that in the last window, we desperately needed to bring a keeper in (even our manager said it 20 times), and had to get some business done in goal at all costs. Someone who wont take 2 weeks too long to conduct a managerial search, and then appoint a manager who is so horrendously ill-suited to our club that he may aswell have given the reins to Dame Edna. As I have said before to the 50 times people say "well what should we do then" If I dare to question Parish's position, I believe he should step back from managerial and transfer matters and concentrate on the business side. He could give those responsibilities to the best person in the club that he believes could take that on. Maybe its Freedman. Heck, I would even be happy to see Brighty have a shot at it because the guy was a player, and he understands the game. I guess Mark Bright wouldn't have let us walk out of the last window without any cover for Benteke. If no one fits the bill then bring someone in who could take a leading role in those matters. And for the love of God, give it to a football man, not someone who cut their teeth running a marketing firm.[/quote You need to accept Parish isn't going to walk away, why should he. Just because you think you can do better, isn't really going to sway him. I don't get the taking 2 weeks too long to appoint a manager, what difference did it make, de Boer wasn't the right man, I seem to remember Hodgson was appointed within a week. I never said I could do better, I am not a football person who learned the game from a young age and can draw on that experience now - but I am the same as Parish in that regard. I said someone else could do better. Taking 2 weeks too long to hire FDB further compounds how calamitous that error truly was. Just sit down and think about that, he hired an Ajax product who likes to play patient possession based football. Sounds like a perfect fit, right? My 3 year old cousin could have figured that one out.

As for the whole 'taking the club forward' argument it wholly depends on what you take into consideration. If it's just footballing matters then there's a debate but if you factor in ground improvements, training ground improvements, moves to rebuild the academy, better medical facilities, sound financial base & an ambitious redevelopment plan then I think it's fair to =say we've come a long way already. Ok, it'll mean less if we did get relegated but these are the areas where the Southamptons of the world are way ahead of us & (probably) need addressing as quickly as possible. Does SP make mistakes - yes. CP is a business investment for SP! He is not doing this for fun as you suggest or out the goodness of his heart, as for developing the ground etc that's all great stuff but not a lot of use in the championship which thanks to SP mistakes now looks highly likely!

I'm not sure what gives you that impression. It's all over the press what happened, days later he's banging in goals and winners in the champions league, everyone knows about him, Everton have ready cash and a shortage of strikers. You barely even needed to scout him. I meant that I didn't think that we were in for Tosun in January as he was someone that Sam wanted and we went after him in August at Sam's behest but were not interested in the latter transfer period, especially as his price had shot up

There's one common denominator throughout, for good or bad, and of course that is Parish himself. It would be good to see him get his transfer game in order, there's no excuse for what has happened over the past few seasons. Edited by southnorwoodhill (14 Feb 2018 1.52pm)

Wake up...of course he is. So are most chairman in football. Hate all this Parish negativity. He is obviously trying his best but you can’t blame him for having one eye on himself. All I hear recently is how fans now want boards to change. I use arsenal and West Ham as an example and now there are a select view palace fans wanting change at the top. What’s the alternative to SP??? Best chairman we have ever had imo, that doesn’t mean he hasn’t made some terrible decisions. Hearing things like “lost the plot” etc, I think is rather harsh considering thr 7 years he has been in charge.

Of course he is a businessman, and he's put his money into it. That earns him the right to make decisions. On one hand he lets the managers manage he gets hammered because a prat like Pardew sells off players. On the other hand he then takes a lead in decisions he is interfering. Problem is our fans have been spoilt over the last few years. Very few seem to remember the two administrations. Yes he has made

But was it Pardew's decision to sell players as we don't know the ins and outs of who decides these things. Everyone assumes that it was the manager who sold Jedinak and Murray but we don't know that for a fact and Parish isn't averse to interfering in player matters as it was him that brought Zaha back against Pulis's wishes and although that worked well it does show that he doesn't always let the manager manage. Then there was the decision to let a bunch of players go including Fraizer Cambell without replacing him and leaving us with just one fit striker

The is the 21st century. The days of benevolent local owners left football when Sky turned up. Unless we are taken over by a rich Arab, Chinese or an American (that always ends well) we will always be second or third best.
