Or let in 2,3,4,5..... There's lots of longevity there.

He had one cracking 12 months and one awful 12 months. Really think he was due to turn things around. We played well in those last two games v Chelsea and Man U.

And look where we are now 9 months later and 7 new players later.

Thanks Kermit, and agree also, we always had fight in us back then, and were capable of coming back from behind, that is the key difference.

Yeah I loved the fight when that ginger no mark for hull walked through our defence. Really tough. Or those pathetic attempts at defending away at Swansea. Yeah mate, they had real pride and toughness. Nobody messed with them boys.

Didn't we come back from 3-1 down to lead 4-3 at one point even if we did lose eventually? Can you imagine our lot today being able to do that at 3-1 down?

Steve Parish's biggest mistake was sacking Alan Pardew in December 2016, when we sat outside of the relegation positions, in 17th.
In the 4 games prior to Pardew's sacking we had won 1, drawn 1, lost 2 (against Man U and Chelsea) and scored 7 goals in those 4 games (7 more than the last 5 games under 2 different managers)

Shame on all those who called for Pardew's head.
Reminds me of the Charlton fans who wanted Alan Curbishley sacked, and look where they are now...

You can't say he didn't have a fair crack of the whip.
I;d say his biggest mistake was falling out with Tony Pulis. Let's be honest. If we still had him we would be comfortable mid-table. My gut feeling is that Parish never wants to spend enough and wants to interfere with the manager's choices. Pulis has been fine at West Brom and was happy at Stoke.

I have heavily criticised Pardew but either parish or Pardew, and with their relationship of hands in each other's belts I'd say both are responsible for:

Souare as 1 left back where we might have got by with another, and enough points to get us through without buying 2 in January.

And similar in def mid, which happened 7 months earlier when Jimmy got injured (if any plastics are reading, he was quality for us then) and we waited 6 weeks for Jedi to stop losing games with shyte passes after coming back in.

Same mistakes and sh1t, same Parish, different outcome?

I agree with you that we lacked cover in key positions and still do today. We should have brought in a director of football much earlier than we did Dougie. Most of our problems have been due to lacking quality players in key positions.

Would you agree if we had brought in a fitness coach and a director of football in December 2016 instead of sacking Pardew, we would be in a better position now?

Agree on the 12 and 12 but Chelsea? Come on, not 1 attack. Not 1, I promise you. Man Utd he showed his desperation yet again for his shortcomings. Because he kept fvcking up he was under pressure to go for the win to make up for it the week after. Or every week after. Great when the winning streak is there. Dangerous when its not. Showed v Man Utd how reckless he is and willing to bet on black.

Granted, another mistake, but we all know what a crook Pulis is and that he was engineering a move elsewhere. Was that Parish's fault? I didnt think so at the time and I still dont think so now
But with recent developments, its difficult to be sure.

How about if Pardew wasn't the character he is, and:

Didn't sack Ben Garner? As soon as he got to West Brom, up into the top 6 they went and a promotion Pulis gave him.

Didn't hire Salako and sack him when he was caught advising players with Alan there.

Alan isn't a rounded manager for top flight football.

Not quite fair. Chelsea gave a masterclass in the art of defending that day. A 10/10. We made them work for that result no shots on target from us and all.

If I was Parish and reading some of the posts on this thread I would seriously consider putting my shares up for sale and getting out asap. Let an Indian, Chinese or another American investor come in and take over over the day to day management of the club and sit back back and watch it properly unfold like it has at many other clubs who have been at a similar stage to ours. Blackburn, Fulham, Charlton fans etc would love to be in our position so let's be a bit respectful of what this guy has achieved in 7 years and not forget where we have come from during his time as part owner.

Has he made mistakes? Of course, many of them...but some of the stuff on here is just a bit over the top.

We all know the defence leaked goals under Pardew. But we also scored goals, lots of them. We were an exciting team to watch. Look at us now

Exciting losers with a garbage post match talk in the tunnel. Great. I'd rather get back to bottom half table achievers.
