Can you hear that noise? It's the fashionista traditionalists shouting "NO!!!"

Would be something, though. Failing that, all white with a red and blue sash? Whatever we do, the current home strip is unseeable at distance, imo.

That's what happens when the opposition play the high press - Speroni did exactly the right thing to do when under pressure.

I'm not having a go at Speroni but to counter the 3 then all you have to do is press high. Can't think of many clubs that can't/won't do that so it negates the system.

I tend to agree, but let's see how it pans out over the coming season.

(I can think of a few teams who have godawful lazy strikers who wouldn't chase down anyone off the ball - no names, no Gabbiadini).

Entire right side of defence is makeshift and has to change IMO. Need a right sided cb and a rwb, so we can push Andros on and use Loki as a sub this season. Also I'd have Jules over Wayne any day personally, but we really do need a new no.1 keeper.

What did Speroni do that was superb today. That performance was no difference from a Hennessey one.

I don't think Dann likes Speroni....that may explain the suicidal pass

Three such strikers got relegated last season because they all play for Middlesborough.

We need Sakho..end of doubt for me..

After watching this game today, and last week, it appears very clear to me that now we do not have a leader at the back, which we all know was Sakho's strength..watching him give guidance to Tomkin's, Damo,etc.. and just showing authority from the back leaves no doubt whats so ever, that we NEED him now..

I know that we have a new Manager etc, but it does not alter the fact we do not want a repeat of last year, or the year before that, when the answer is right in front of us..Sakho.. Give it time I hear you say.. that's what Alan said, and look what happened to him.. I pray that all goes well for Frank, I really do, but come on.. right now we are no different then before, you all remember the instant difference that Sakho made..we wanted to name him player of the year for heavens sake, because he really made a huge difference with our play..I want that back, as I know you do too.. some lets stop farting about and get him..

Good to see Jules in goal.

The manager should have a word with Dann IMO.

Just my take on the game.
Great to be back today and enjoyed the match if not the weather at some points.
Seemed to be very exposed down the right hand side in the first half as that where Schalke made inroads imo.Townsend good going forward but caught out positionally at times, don't believe Luka is the best option at right centre back as part of a 3 as we missed his reading of the game in the middle of the park.
Lokilo was lively and think with a bit more guidance from FdB will be a good option as a sub, but not sure what alternative there may be for Huddersfield.
Don't know if Speroni made any claim to start against Huddersfield next week but was fantastic to see him between the sticks again at Selhurst, especially as it was my youngests first game and told her that she had seen a true legend of the Palace in the flesh.
Was encouraging the way we were trying to play our way out of trouble at times but think in the Prem we will be punished more as teams will press more quickly.
Loftus-Cheek had some good touches and enjoyed Ward's appearance as he seemed to give us more solidity defensively and put in a couple of decent crosses.
In the first half Benteke's second touch was a tackle apart from a couple of flick ons but the goal seemed to lift his confidence so hope that puts him in a better frame of mind for next week.Although still not confident if he is through one on one with the keeper.
As always seems like we are relying on Wilf to provide some magic and really think if he doesn't get clobbered by the hatchet men this year he could raise to even higher heights.
