I have retract my statement earlier on this thread. However at the time I posted this thread 2 months ago. He wasn't doing enough. Look at many people feelings on Townsend. He's now getting bad to his very best the form he showed at villa. I didn't claim he was rubbish, I stated that he was lazy but to credit of big Sam , little Sam and Christian himself this is the form why we paid the money for Christan.

But you were all for selling him and playing Campbell instead. He was out top scorer at that time and you wanted to sell him, classic idiotic idea.

I'm sure you changed your opinion on players. I'm just glad that we got the old Palace back. Fighting for everything. Leaving nothing on the pitch. Also this statement was made after beating Middlesbrough. Look at the improvement in performances of many ward, puncheon,Hennessy,Townsend and cabaye.

The best thing is Benteke's improved play with his feet. I had forgotten he was capable of that. Some nice dribbles and passing. At this rate he could well end the season 1 in 2. What a turnaround. Looks so confident and what a finish for his first. Lovely to see.

My kids always ask me to rate the team. I've always had Wilf top of the pile but today I said I wasn't sure.

No one was doing enough a few months ago and we certainly didn't have any team work out on the pitch. It's a transformation under Allardyce.

Thought Wilf was quite quiet today.

It's been interesting that Benteke's improved form has come after Allardyce made comments to the media about Big Ben taking the opportunity to score the goals to save us.

Before that he hadn't ever singled anyone out so I believe it came of the back of a process of discussions with the striker about changing his game.

To me the improvement of individuals like Benteke, Cabaye and Townsend is evidence of Allardyce's man management skills.

He said it in the post match interview that before nobody was close enough to him. He has since put cabaye In the number 10 and brought the wingers in and made them cut inside. Townsend being very both footed means we can get decent balls into him and wilf is much better being closer to the centre forward this brings the best out of the front 3. Also why the fvck did pardew have cabaye shielding the back four. His vision and movement in the final third is phenomenal. A complete reshape of the team formations and new additions has brought the very best out of Townsend Wilf Yohan and Benteke going forward they are brilliant we are scoring every game and defending brilliantly. It's about getting the right Balance something Pardew just did not understand.

Did Pardew understand anything? For me he has been found out as a poor Premier manager. Just for the record I have said this long before he was removed!! Big Sam and Pulis have the know how and knowledge of football to get results.

I think as well the signing of Milivojević has been pivotal - nice really having 1 player shielding centre backs and this has allowed Cabaye and Puncheon to play further up the field where they are more effective.
The balance was still not quite right when we had Jedinak and Ledley playing in front of the defence as it made the transition from defence to attack more difficult. Pardew tried to fix it but had square pegs in round holes.

Sorry Ferret I mean they ask me "who is our best player" and keep going on at me until I get down to Zeki Fryers. In reply I've been saying Wilf for a long time...but Benteke is really becoming such a threat.

Agreed Wilf was quiet v Liverpool

I think Benteke has always worked hard and looked dangerous. He lost a bit of confidence a few weeks ago after the Middlesbrough/Watford games, but in general he's done his job apart from those two penalty misses.

What has changed is the service. The improvement from Cabaye & Townsend in particular means Benteke actually has something to work with for a change, and gives Wilf more room to contribute as well.

I know! I'm convinced that Pardew was talking utter garbage when he said Cabaye wanted to play DM. My guess is that Pardew thought he'd be able to take the credit for transforming Cabaye from an AM in his youth to a more deep lying QB style player, like Gerrard in his last season or two at Liverpool.
